Nova-ss Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Great work? The detail you have done makes me want to have as well...amazing!!..thank you.
microwheel Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Nice to see you posting again on this one Geoff. I love the old school style Beetles almost as much as I do the original Mini Coopers. I like your choice of colors.
ningoth4 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 This is coming along beautifully. Great detail work all around. Kevin
Greg Pugh Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 You're doing a fantastic job on this! It looks amazing. It's just too bad Revell didn't get this one right.
Pierre_tec Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 excellent build GeeBee; so much attention to details!!!! btw was reading you use automotive laquer, but any clear? i heard krylon make goods one
dublin boy Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Looking great. Geoff doesn't use clear on solid colours, he polishes it out..
GeeBee Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Got a little more done earlier, interior mirror painted and fitted, and then the body simply popped onto the chassis, it's held in place using slow setting epoxy on the inside of the running boards,
microwheel Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 This is really looking good Geoff. I havent got this kit yet, but your build makes me want to go out and get it.
GeeBee Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 excellent build GeeBee; so much attention to details!!!! btw was reading you use automotive laquer, but any clear? i heard krylon make goods one No, I only use clearcoat on metallic colours, solid colours are wet sanded and polished out, probably harder work but it just looks more realistic as that's what happened on the 1:1 version
GeeBee Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) Headlamp bowls fitted, I just wish model companies would mount the chrome parts where the cut mark is going to be visible, thank god for BMF .... it was the same for the rear lamp housings, attached to the parts tree right at the top and side of the part. FASTBACK340 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I just scrolled through this build and wow, what a nice job! I was planning on using the Tamiya `66 under Norn's new resin Baja, but I might have to grab one of these and compare the underpinningsā¦. You definitely got my attention with all the detail-painting you've done. That interior looks great, especially the dash. Nice workmanship Geoff!
GeeBee Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Rear lights and rear number plate backing plate fitted, lights were airbrushed using Tamiya clear red and orange acrylics Edited October 29, 2014 by GeeBee

GeeBee Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Hi Geoff, nice to see you back working on this little guy. Cant wait to see it all finished. It's getting close, just need to mask up the windows to airbrush the black rubber seals, front & rear bumpers and a few chrome parts and bumpers, then she will be finished ....
GeeBee Posted October 31, 2014 Author Posted October 31, 2014 99% finished, just door handles, wiper blades and windows, which I will get round to masking up and airbrushing over the weekend ...
