Google Images is useful here, and you can find those underhood decals, etc, from many cars. Save them, print them on decal material of photo paper, and use as needed. I have even used barely legible stencils and markings from 1/72 and 1/48 scale aircraft decals; many are good enough to fool the eye, unless one is using a magnifier to look under the hood.

Thanks John thats a great idea, I have made my own decals before so Ill give this a go.

The modelcars link above showcases decals by Tommy Logan at Speedway Decals. I used a set of his tire decals on my '68 Road Runner; you can see them in my "on the workbench" post. They're good stuff; I would not hesitate to use those products.
