Platerpants Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Heres the start, Hacked up a lightning bed and put the sides on the original bed from the 56 ford, then glued the fenders onto the bed. Hoping to make a cummins for it. Mirrors and cab lights from revell peterbilt 359, wheels and tires from ford l8000, hoping for stacks too, and hopefully 4x4. Heres my inspiration a drawing from this past summer and the real deal, followed my my progress. Edited February 15, 2014 by Platerpants

Platerpants Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Started widening the fenders to fit the wider front suspension. Working on the cummins now to let the glue dry on the fenders
disabled modeler Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Cool.... I love the old school trucks...back when they were nothing but brute power.
Platerpants Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Thanks, heres a look at my cummins
Platerpants Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Got one fender in form gotta wait for the "goo" to dry then sand it smooth
Platerpants Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 THANKS! A little mock up still gotta wait to sand anything. The turbo just barely fit under the hood.
Platerpants Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Primer on the bed. Still needs more work.
Platerpants Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Finally Declared the body work done, left some "dents" in the bed and fenders on accident so the story is it was a work truck so some abuse happened...
pyrophoenix83 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 cool project hope to see more of it soon
GLMFAA1 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Interesting your method of widening the front. Here is my 56 ford ALF pumper the I widened the wheel wells on using the existing fender trim cut off then cut into pieces and glued out further using evergreen strips then used filler in the gaps. nice work greg
Platerpants Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks, I always do things differently and i dont know why. I see you also live in the snowbelt lol. I like your truck. Anyway im off work today so time to work on this beast.
Trailer Trash Kustomz Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 There's a cummins 12v for ya bro!
Platerpants Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) yeah i know theres a cummins but after rolling my truck in january i have to save my money to get a new truck this was a present as the kit and any parts i got for it were purchased before my truck ended up upside down in a ditch... But if it hadnt of happened i would have hunted this engine down. Didnt get any work done on it today was a friends birthday so we got 11 of us together and went mudding a dodge and chevy got stuck though, my ford never got stuck when i had it... anyway work should come tomorrow.
