Nice reboxed kit of the original Ex Monogram curbside 1/24 1980 kit, reissued in the 90's by Monogram & Revell Germany, approx 44 parts , white, clear. Reissued for the 30th of the 308 (1976)......nice boxart!

The body proportions looks good, but slighty a bit "narrow" in width, the rear fender section is also a bit too short at the end. Seperate lower front & rear (with molded in bumper) body valences & one piece front bumper/grille unit , seperate top engine cooling vents panel, seperate driver door mirror......molded in "thin" wippers.

Interior is the strong point, one piece interior tub with molded center console, nicely detailed seperate door panels, dash, steering wheel, correct patern seats & shifter.

The "textured" platform is as expected pretty basic, minimal engraved details: "A" arms, engine oil pan, rear muffler box with seperate twin exhaust tips & 2 plastic axles/4 "flat"back plates.

Wheels are nicely detailed, tires are the generic Monogram Michelin TRX's, the diameter size looks perfect but slighltly narrow tread. Clear parts includes "one piece": windshield, side 3/4 & back windows, 4 rear lights & 2 front corner lights.

Nice decal sheet made by excellent Cartograph, plates for various Euro countries, ferrari logos: body/wheels/steering & dash gauges, nice touch from Revell AG. No "Chrome plate" of wheels, shiffter & twin exhaust tips as Monogram did.

A simple "dry" assembly of this simple kit gives an idea of what to expect...not bad at all

Is this mold the same one that was used to produced the Magnum PI model a few years ago. I remember that kit as being a real pain to build.

No. completely different tool. this ones light years more accurate then the Magnum PI kit.

The Monogram kit is way better, even if curbside. Just compared my "dry" assembled Monogram 308 kit project with a completed 308 Revell US one, looks already better...no paint!!!

The Revell US 308GTB in 1/25 scale was made as a "full" detail kit back in 1979, was modified as Magnum P.I. version: GTS with removable roof in 1982, the kit as a bad body :proportions are not as good as the monogram kit + the "real" rubber tires are way too "beefy" & oversize toy looking, interior & engine are passable, fitting of parts is not perfect, no wonder Revell AG took the Monogram 308 kit.

The old Monogram kit is by far the most accurate (and best looking) 308 kit yet produced. The Revell offering that got modified into an ersatz GTS has proportion problems with the roof and, IIRC, the A-pillars are a little too angled making the whole roof look too low and shallow. (Hasegawa got the roof right on their 328GTS.) The Gunze Sangyo kit (also boxed by Testors) is too gimmicky for my tastes. So Revell Germany repopping the Monogram kit is very much appreciated. Will we ever see an accurate state of the art 308? Possibly, if Fujimi continues their forays into Ferrariland. Until that time, at least we have this.

Don't let the low parts count fool you. Like others have said, if you like 308s this is the way to go. It is easy enough to be a quick build, yet it lends itself to additional detailing.

The tail lights are the only part of this kit that can use some tweaking.

Boy, this thread couldn't have come at a better time! I spent the week before last and the first half of last week sorting my 1/64 street car collection-some I had not seen since at LEAST 1994-and it's got me wanting to build a handfull of Ferraris (do three count as a handfull? The 308, F40 and Testarossa).

A few moments ago I didn't know if any existed in kit form, now I know exactly which kit to purchase! As a bonus, both my LHS stock Revell of Germany kits...even though I've only bought 2 I know they are there, so I should have little trouble finding this one!
