Billy Kingsley Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 And I can't believe it is! As I have related elsewhere, I have fought with these kits many times over....I pulled this one out and worked at it several times with little positive results...Until yesterday. For some odd, unknown reason, it just fell toghter. All the parts fit on the first try, and nothing broke. I didn't put anything on backwards or the wrong location or anything! This is: My first Polar Lights kit, my first NASCAR Mercury, my first fully secured (read: glued) wheel assemblys, and my first time attemtping to lower the front end (I think I actually lowered it too much). What I did there was take the spindle, and glue it on sideways, with pieces cut from the sprue to keep them stable. It helps that I built it curbside. The decals came from Dave Van, however, he neglected to include contingencys, and it's missing some. I can't make out what they are on the one blurry photo I have, so I of cource can't apply what I can't ID. The contingencys that are there came from DSAO, Slixx, AMT and an unknown 1983 Bill Elliott sheet. The color is likely too dark, as well. But I really couldn't care less, because it looks great to me. Thanks for looking and enjoy the photos! BTW: I didn't tell anyone I was working on this car...very unusual for me, as I normally mention it somewhere.
Shawn Tillotson Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Looks great Billy! I have a few of them I have yet to try. I understand how the PL kits can be, I fought my Marty Robbins Charger every step of the way! Love seeing some Nascar around here. I have an itch for the roundy rounds since BadScale went down.
Randy Kern Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Very nice job on that, Billy. I like the older Nascar body styles, when they actually looked like the car!
MarkJ Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Great job billy!! I really enjoy the obscure builds.
