Teddy J. Tannehill Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 I wanted to add more pictures, do I have to start a new topic?
Jeremy Jon Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Nope, just keep adding them here, with each new post you make ....when creating a new post, go into the "more reply options" and at the bottom you'll see the "attachment" link Looks great, looking forward to seeing more!
Teddy J. Tannehill Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 I built the Impalas interior painted the firewall.under side of hood, radiator and front fender well tops....The Body is a Metalic Orange and needs Rubbed out. The color is a on the car mix and in the lower level coats the are some "Candy Reds" Once I polish down to those I am hoping for a pertty cool paint job. I added some age to the seats using some "pastel powders" I had read about this in one of the "How To" books by Covert.....First time I've tryed it. The Picts. of the GTO a just a stance check I think once I get the interior built it should gap the rear wheels away from the body...I think I want that rear end up just a bit more. The "Vibe" I am going for on these 2 is "The Rugged Look" Decent but not "Cherry". Thanks for looking and the good words...And for being a patient with me. I am not that great with the computer.
Teddy J. Tannehill Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 Hello builders: One of the guys on the site "Ray" gave me some good advice about my camara...so these pics should be better. I put the radiator and heater hoses on. I rubbed out the body with polish kit....I think some of the candy red coat I shot under the wet coats of orange is now showing up on lower part of body. I was going for a "Sun Burst Fade" darker on the lower part of the car lighter on the top...The guages on the insturment panel are a after market offering from the Model Car Garage...So I did not use the clear plastic cover that came with the AMT kit, I think you can see the guages better this way.
Teddy J. Tannehill Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) Interior for the 66 GTO is done.....I was really planning on doing a "Plain Jane" interior Flat Black.....You know a "Spartan Muscle Car" area to sit and go fast. Then I looked at the instruction sheet, it called for gloss brown in the area next to the gauges..... So I figured we were simulating wood grain....I did the dash, wheel, door panels.....Then Jimi Hendrix came on the radio singing "Purple Haze".....Then all this happened....I think it "Picks up " the colors in the body. Teddy J. Tannehill Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 So I got the windows put in the 66 GTO...I Painted the area around the tail lights silver and back deck area between the tail lights Flat Black....I'm building these 2 to please myself. I hope these slight mods will be enough to go with a "No Door Handles" shave....Comments welcome. I did some ageing on the bumpers...and grill, did a little work on the fire wall and put the radiator on....Next I am going to put up a head liner using "Funny Fur"...The Sun Visors are flat black. I think I might use the Garnet flocking, I used on the carpet and interior back or flat black...Again comments welcome.
Teddy J. Tannehill Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 I Put the head liner up. Did a stance check.
Belugawrx Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 TJ ,..that polish on the roof, is the bomb man!! Like the stock steelies Keep at 'er Cheers
slusher Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Great color on the GTO and I really like the 67 impala you built....
Teddy J. Tannehill Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 Thanks Carl and Bruce. Always great to hear your kind words. I had a job that was running 12hr. days with no days off...I worked it a month or so, could not take it anymore. Guess I am not as strong has I used to be. I have had a few days off before my next job starts. It was nice to work on my cars. I am still learning a lot with each car I build. I keep telling myself to do more test fitting before painting and glue....I get eager to build...Bruce and Slusher you guys always build such nice looking cars. Can you give me some advice for body to chassis assembly?...This step seems to be where I run into fit problems.
Belugawrx Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I always......! unpainted dry fits like forever getting glass,. interior ,...chassis fit,.. tape into place or white glue it Full mockups to make sure everything is going to fit like it should before I even start gluing anything Cheers

I never mock up anything I paint everything and fix problems as they come along. To me every thing fits different after paint anyway. I have built most of the cars I build in the past. I glue my interiors in if their a tub and then the chassis. I hope this helps.. GTO is looking great Teddy...
