Hi, what year is this kit? Does it have correct interior?

The model year is a hard question to answer for that particular box. I believe that box art was originally used for the '72 annual. It was brought back when Johan reissued the kit in the '70's, but various parts/model years were found in the box. I have one that contained a '73/'74 kit, and another that contained a '73/'74 body with '72 chrome.

Every '71-'74 Johan Javelin I've ever seen contains the same crude interior (about four pieces total) with an identical seat pattern. I have no idea if the pattern is unique to any particular model year.

I have to agree the taillights on the box cover and the kit body appears to be a 72 to me....nice kits too. I have been looking for the Johan snap kits of these and others there pretty good too in my opinion.

Yours is identical to one of mine; a '73/'74 body with '72 chrome. What makes the body a '73-4 is the smooth roof. An accurate '71-2 body has T-top-like creases pressed into it (Google some pics and you'll see what I mean). The original Johan '71-2 annuals had the creases molded in.

I wouldn't be bothered by the minor inaccuracy. I purchased mine from a long-time knowledgeable collector who bought and built the kit years ago without ever noticing the error.

Problem is there is not one correct answer on your kit. JoHan mixed and matched parts on that kit during reissues. It represents a 1971-74 Javelin. BUT.....JoHan ran the kit with a 71-72 body, 73-74 body and coould be mixed with 71-72 tail lights or 73-74 'TV' tail lights. So the only accurate 71-72 kit was made before the body was altered to a 73. (T bar removed from roof etc) After the body was altered to a 73 it was run with 72 tail light panel.

The interior is typical 70's era promo style bucket. We get spoiled with current build up interiors with deep side panels....the kit as made is very buildable as long as you know what it is......Any one that doesn't like the kit ....I store them at my house for FREE!!!!!
