kennb Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) I am getting a 56 and 57 olds 4 doors that are super straight that I will be redoing......This will not be a fast process but I am excited about them.I have given thought to having them cast since 4 doors are harder to find in this condition. thanks to Ramfins59 I have the front bumper coming. (hope I spelled that right). Edited March 11, 2014 by kennb
1 bad55 stan Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Interesting projects coming up,put me down for a pair if your going to sell them...
kennb Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Since I will probably be repainting the 56 i am not sure if the plastic they used will hold up to being striped,,,, Cab anyone help out on this, or should I just do a over paint or leave the paint and just do the chrome??? The green on is green plastic so it is not an issue
ChrisBcritter Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Definitely DO NOT use oven cleaner on acetate; don't know what purple stuff/yellow stuff/brake fluid/ELO does to it. Having these cast might be better if you can scare up some X-El styrene reissues; the bumpers will fit better (remember these old bodies shrink as well as warp). w451973 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I'm an Olds so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
kennb Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 These came in the mail today. I am amazed at how straight they are and the fact that there is so little shrinkage that is common. The fit of the bumpers is close to factory.........
