Ok, ÃNother project  ( like I didn't had enough yet... )

This will be build quite slow and is more a between project when other projects are stalled for some reason.

The idea is to build a Porsche 911 (euro specs) and cutaway the body.

As base, I use the Fujimi Enthusiast No. 5 kit, as this is the best base one can have.

This is how I received the body and glass ( the cracks were known, and that's why it was also an ideal base for this project )

cutaway001.jpg

A dryfit of all the bodyparts together

And made some lines where I will cut the body in halves

cutaway003.jpg

The front window was split in a way I didn't liked, so I masked of the preferred line and started to saw

cutaway004.jpg

It resulted in this raw frontscreen

And smoothed with different grid sanding sticks

And the start of the engine, painted already in the main colours

Quite an undertaking! I am going to watch this build's progress for sure. Do you have a reference? Did Stuttgart build one for display? I've seen plenty of cutaway engines.... A whole car is way too cool! :P

I cut off the pullys from the molded v-belt and pullys

The new V-belt

And rejoind on the motor again, looks a lot better than the original belt, dontcha think?

The exhaust system

And all the parts for the engine, put together and now waits further detailing.

Ok, seems that my last update didn't got pulled through, so another update now.

Making ignition wiring

One halve done

With the other halve too.

And working on the driversseat. It needs more details as it is fully exposed.

Needs some work more.

Thanks Mike, appreciated!

Unfortunately you can see that the Tamiya is quite basic in in-depth detail, something you can find in the Enthusiasts.

Small update; I am kind off stuck now, since the chassis and interior is pretty much done, and I have to wait until I can spray the body.

Great idea for a project. I have also seen those ads for Tamiya. Great job so far. The red really adds to the effect.

Erik,

Try putting/updating the date in the description section of the post each time you add pictures. That way we'll know when to look again. :P

Nice work Steef! I have always found those type of builds interesting. Reminds me of some of the ads that car companies did.

That is looking really cool, Erik!!

It reminds me of the Bond movie where the helicopter cuts up the car with some sort of rotary saw hanging below it!
