Fabrux Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 This may only be useful to fellow Canadians, but I was browsing through my wife's favourite store (Dollarama) one day and this item caught my eye as a possible solution to my paint storage issue: I already have a paint cabinet built that has all my spray paints and Testors glass jars, but I needed somewhere to store my growing selection of Vallejo paints that would be allow me to see everything at a glance. Turns out this little lipstick organizer is a good fir for the Vallejo bottles. I also did a test fit and the Testors 1/4 oz bottles fit these organizers like a glove: Happy modelling.
peter31a Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Very cool, Chris. I'll have to keep my eyes open for these the next time I'm in Dollerama.
vintagercr Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Hey Chris, Dollarama is my favorite store. I will have to look into those.
allparish12 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 i swear we have the worst dollar themed stores on this continent. I can NEVER find the steals and deals in these stores here. I've waited two halloweens and 4th of july's to see if any of them would get the fiber optic flashlights and they have yet to get them. I cant even find cheap legos to make my casting boxes.
High octane Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 My "jar" paints are stored in a drawer with my building tools and are very handy. I've seen a guy pick up 'bout 15 jars before he found the color he wanted. SIMPLE fix to that is to label the tops of the jars, I did and it works great.
Fabrux Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I have a drawer for my Testors paints and they are labelled on the top.
BIG NICKY Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I just put a dab of the paint color on the lid so its easier to find at a glance
High octane Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 They do that at Home Depot when you buy colors that have to be mixed. However that wouldn't work with some colors, especially silver, steel, and aluminum. That's why I write the color on a label and put it on the cap.
BIG NICKY Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I gotcha...I don't have all those colors because im cheap and crippled temporarily so ive been stuck in bed or in a wheel chair for the last 2 almost three months
tbill Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 that's a good idea. this may help as well, I found this in wal mart, it's for holding spools of thread. I strung some rubber bands between the pegs to keep the jars on it. seems to work ok for me [could use a touch more modifying though]
