my80malibu Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Interested in a different Chassis for my monogram 70 Roadrunner with better detail in 1/24 scale
tubbs Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 not much to pick from in 1/24. good question, but I am afraid there may be no answer.
1972coronet Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Probably the best improvement that you can make is to : - Separate the exhaust from the (Dana 60) axle , and ; - Separate the "downpipes" from the exhaust manifolds and glue their ends to the exhaust pipes . Even though you didn't inquire about the engine ; here's a suggestion : dump those "blobs" that are trying to pass as representations of the Holley 2300's , and replace them with the carbs from either the 1971 GTX , or the carbs from the AMT 1971 Duster 340 .
MrObsessive Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Seems to me if you want to do some "stretching and shaping", one could use the chassis out of the Round 2 reissued '68 Roadrunner, and '70 Super Bee. Or perhaps the '68-9 Revell Dodge Charger kits. Now true these are 1/25 scale, but you can't beat the detail these have to offer. Just my 2ยข.
Casey Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 What about the 69 Superbee? It's very similar to the 1/24 GTX kit's chassis. Ditto for the other Monogram 1/24 musclecars, such as the '70 Superbird, '70 Challenger T/A, '70 Chevelle/Malibu SS, '78 T/A, etc. For a better starting point, start with a 1/25 scale JO-HAN '70 Roadrunner body, and the AMT '68-'70 B-bodies' chassis, suspension, and engine, or use some of the Revell 1/25 '68-9 Charger parts.
