Rocketman Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 i put up those pics because that is the same truck before they put the other axle..wich btw is a trailer axle I follow that, but the idea is the same, using a trailer from Galaxie Limited as a start point for the box
scale trucker Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 you got better luck starting with the mobieus greatdane reefer
Rocketman Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 That's not a bad idea. You would have plenty of material to work work with and easier to remove excess than to add
Rocketman Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Stumbled across this this morning http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/upload2/5005233-tvtommy.jpg
DodgeAddict Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 Thanks a lot guys! I haven't had the pleasure of using anything from the Moebious line of models but if you guys think it'll be what I need to use then I'll order two cause the one Petty hauler I'm building has very much the same pattern too
Rocketman Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Here is the Mobius kit http://www.modelcars.com/moebius-53-trailer-with-reefer-option.html Another kit to consider is/are one of the AMT race hauler kits. They come race ready with internal components, have the "low boy" stance and the sides are cut out for the tandems. Three versions that I am aware of, Gallee/Kraco Indycar, Coors NASCAR and Kodak NASCAR. I have all three and can shoot some parts pics if you like. They are not hard to get and at or below the Mobius kits. Here are a pair available from a seller with a excellent reputation http://public.fotki.com/Goodguyinar416/nascar-model-kits/nascar-race-car-haulers.html Edited June 8, 2014 by Rocketman
DodgeAddict Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 I have 4 of those race car haulers & they have doors on the sides that break the lines up too much I checked out the Moebius kit & I think that's the way to go
Rocketman Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Good deal, look forward to the continued build. This is on my list of builds I want to do.
DodgeAddict Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Looks like between the 3 of us we'll have all the details worked out It's a shame that trailer kit is $70
Rocketman Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I called my model supplier guy; told me they are on back order but he can get a couple at aout $50.00 a piece when in; plus whatever shipping to you would be.
DodgeAddict Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 How do the tires & wheel fit /attach on these models? Can they be easily adapted to AMT steel axle
Rocketman Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 How do the tires & wheel fit /attach on these models? Can they be easily adapted to AMT steel axle I'll call my friend and see if he still has the instructions from his build
Rocketman Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 He ditched the instructions. When my latest order comes in next week i'll have him bring his built trailer over when he drops my order off. I'll shoot some pics too.
DodgeAddict Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 Here's the frame with the mock up cab on it Next pics it will have twin axle suspension in the rear
Ken Gilkeson Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 quite an undertaking of a great subject. great start. ;-))
jjsipes Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Updates? Been thinking about something along these lines as well but, not Ivo truck.
leafsprings Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 The IVO truck has the same wheels IMC originally put on the box cover of the L 700. The ALF wheels are a good choice on the Dodge.
dragstueck Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 I build this in 2014. Like the Tommy Ivo Transporter too....
