sjordan2 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) I don't really get what your question is. If this particular car has been licensed for sale by GM -- particularly for multiple copies for profit -- then that's necessary to avoid a lawsuit. If it's a one-of-a-kind custom, licensing would not be needed. The precedent is the Ferrari Miami Vice replica line of kit and built Daytona Spiders, which Ferrari's lawyers stomped all over. Now, the word "Ferrari" cannot be used on eBay for any existing copies of that car. Ford has authorized steel body aftermarket parts for some of their products, such as the 1940 Ford coupe. No telling what the costs for factory approval might be. Edited April 11, 2014 by sjordan2
Harry P. Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Maybe I missed it but there was a question? jb Ditto. I don't get it. It's a licensed replica. Is that supposed to be weird in some way?
Dave Van Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I gotta disagree with that statement......... I can't give the who and what......but not long ago a model company wanted to produce a XYZ from company ABC. They jumped through all the hoops, had a proven quality product, did EVERYTHING ABC insisted they do. In the end ABC said no thinks.....no licensing allowed. NOT because the rules were not followed, NOT because the product didn't fit with ABC image....but only because they did not feel like any new licensing contracts right now....or in the near future. ABC did compliment the product and wished them good luck. So moral is.......No...you can't.
stang_crazy Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 for the price of the car I would think the company that built it could use something other then cheapo spade & eyelet connectors for connecting to sensors etc... at least could of used the heat shrink connectors.
Austin T Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I'm still confused here. There's a general statement,a picture of a 'vette, and a link to an article about said 'vette. Maybe adding a brief description of what this thread is to accomplish would help. We could be talking about why this is "Licensed" or we could be talking about the licencing of a new model for all I know.
Austin T Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Austin doesn't. Since you do may I be enlightened?
