ranma Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I needed a 54 chevy for my 30 years of Chevrolet collection. Sadly revelle's 53/54 is missing some of the parts to make a "stock" copy. With that being said I then raided an old AMT 51 chevy. the 51 gave up some of the parts I needed to go on the 54, those parts are as follow's tires and rims, engine and the steering wheel. The decal's are from the Jo-Han Ambulance that I recently finished. I'll try and post a few more pictures but for now here are these two. This is a reissue kit I bought last week at Hobby lobby.
jsc Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Rick: Great job! Like you, I've tried to make a "series" of Chevy's. The early 50's were difficult, but I did manage to get 53-68 done, and then a few other miscellaneous years. I like the way you personalized this. Keep up the good work!
ranma Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Still need's some paint work and bare metal foil work done.
cartpix Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 WOW. I started to make a Revell panel, stock, with '51 parts, so I know what an up hill battle, you've had. You've pulled it off, nicely. Mine is, in a box, on the shelf.
impcon Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Knowing this kit and that old Revell stuff in general, my hat is off to you with this build. You pulled it off well and showed some imagination because I have never seen one of the panels done like yours is. As a "stocker", I can appreciate the workmanship and talent, Rick. Most guys shy away from trying to build one of these in stock form but you did it!! Congratulations!!!!
cartpix Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Yes, I'd like to see, WIP shots, too. Maybe it can kick start mine.
