mackinac359 Posted January 1, 2008 Author Posted January 1, 2008 The blue/striped A64B was built for Stevens International to use for promotional purposes. It was on display at the iHobby show. Much to my dismay, they had reglued the mirrors on using superglue that fogged up the windows. When I got the truck back I replaced the windows and reinstalled the mirrors properly. Tim
Robert Myers Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Impressive builds!!! They are getting the building juices flowing! I have to admit that I strayed to the dark side in 2007. I didn't build a truck, just cars, military aircraft and tanks. However, getting back active on this forum and seeing all of the great builds I may be turning the corner....a truck kit is coming off of the shelf. I think it will be a parts truck. I have a KW frame with torsion bars and an older COE cab. With a little work.........
ABC Auto Industry Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Yeah, it seems I've been building plenty of big rig models lately. It started with the Chevy Titan I got back in 2006 (still needs some touching up), and since then, I got: an American-Lafrance Pumper, a Peterbilt 359, an Autocar A64B, and a Chevy Bison. The Bison had been sitting around in my local hobby shop before I bought it last Friday. The strange thing is that it says "Exclusive production by Stevens International" on one side of the box. I thought the AMT-Stevens alliance was a recent thing until I saw that. Does anyone have any info on this?

Thats right I finished NOTHING however I will at least have a good head start on 2008. Tim those are some great builds and it looks like your average monthy output is equal to or better than my annual output in a good year. With the attention to detail and customization of your builds I would never have guessed you can crank out so many models. Do you sleep at all?

Whilst waiting for some custom decals from Dan Poulin to finish my Autocar dumper I made a start on the A64B. It arrived about 3 days ago, after reading such good reviews and studying the kit in detail I decided to make it my next build. But box stock NO! I'm getting like one or two people on this board where I just can not build trucks box stock. This one will built to my specific requirements it will certainly be a Michigan tractor with a very rare 12V71TA Detroit Diesel between the frames, with an extended hood larger radiator, twin air intakes, frame mounted hydraulic wet line system, heavy duty front axle and wheels front and back it will be complete with a scratch built 5 axle dump trailer. I will start a new topic on this soon. It is due to the enthusiasm, skill and dedication to the truck building hobby of people like Tim, Scott and all the others on this forum that gives me the drive to produce my trucks. Well done guys!! Lets hope 2008 is equally if not more productive. But most of all lets enjoy ourselves and see what we can achieve.

SpreadAxle Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I have 2 built for '07. It was the Autocar DC and dump trailer(counting them separately) I finished back in May. Well, then again, I still need to tarp the trailer. As for projects started, they would be, in order, my White Freightliner Drom tractor, my Pete 358, and my GMC Astro daycab which is almost done. I made a little progress on my Ford LN 8000 single axle tractor, but not much. Tim, I saw a white 377 you built this year that I really liked. I had not noticed that one before. Nice job. I had fun watching all the builds on the forum here this past year. My goals for 2008 are to finish the aforementioned projects along with restoring the very first truck I ever built, an R Model Mack, built in July of 1991. Good luck on everyone's projects.

I bought both as built-ups on eBay, the 378 was silver and the 377 was red ? Purple? I can't remember. I got the 377 almost finished and lost interest. I might finish it yet. I actually built it as a long-frame daycab, then put the big sleeper on it. Tim

I saw on you Web site that you models are featured in a video display down there as well. Is it just "Old Number One" or is it all of your Peterbilts? You Web page says that "Old Number One" is missing, but isn't that them in the fifth row from the top in the middle of the row?

Where are you getting a 12V Screamer from? I'm about to scratch one, but if a decent version is for sale somewhere I would prefer to swipe my card.
Old Albion Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 I bought a batch of 3 off on Ebay about a year ago. They are the old Hendrix ones kit No HX304. I checked with Sharon of Spauling Trading and Shipping a long time ago about the V12 detroit. She said that it was not available any more and that STS or Griffin were working on the moulds, but didn't know when they would be available. So when I saw the batch of 3 on Ebay I bought them. You might want to check with Sharon if anyone has made any progress. The engine I think is based on the engine from the AMT Super Boss kenworth. Not sure. With regards to my builds for 2007, well not too many. These are the first two. One is in Denton at the plant. The other is here with me. The third is the truck representing how it looked before restoration. The 4th is fairly box stock with modifications and AITM rear wheels and is displayed in the home of one of the engineers at PB. The video display showed about 8 different models. They run various video presentation "slide shows" through out the year. Tim Always impressed by your builds, and the detail you add. Waiting on the r model tractor to stretch it and put on a new hood. Allied's HQ is here in Phoenix so there are alot of these on the street. Scratchbuilt from amt's ln box chopped and shortened. Built it 10 years ago when I was living in Chicago. You probably could tell it was done by a 16yr old! Learned how to drive on this one. Casey429 Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 (edited) Only two trucks for me. First, my 1970 Mack DM800. Mostly OOB. Next was this '74-ish 359 Rebuilder. Repowered with an 8v-71 Detroit. Three if you count this WIP I started around Thanksgiving. I know its pickup, but those interested can see thw whole WIP up in the on the workbench section. I built more than two models the whole year, most of them just happened to be cars and pickups. 2008 is looking good though. I want to pick up a DM600, A64B, R685ST, and maybe a 377 if I can find one. Edited January 9, 2008 by Casey429
