Was at O'Reillys to pick up some oil & I always look at the paint & notice they have Dupli Color Lacquer Clear for paint guns in the quart can & directions say on the can that no reducer is need & that you spray it strait from your paint gun but have the option to thin it if needed. So has anybody used this to clear there builds.

I have never used it so I can not definitively answer your question. If you plan to use it in an airbrush you might have to thin it some as, I would guess, it is made ready to spray through a larger paint gun. Experimentation will tell you. I have thought about buying a quart of color myself but have not done so yet which has more to do with budget constraints.

Was thinking of buying quart of the clear ($24.95) but I have not used any automotive paints or the automotive clears on any of my builds. I have been airbrushing with testors lacquers & clears and it does get costly for the ounce bottles of clear lacquer thats why I threw out this question on the Dupli Color clear to maybe find out if anyone has used it and how well it looks.

I started using automotive acrylic enamel last year, my local auto paint store will mix as little as 4 oz. for me. I bought 8 oz of color for $9.50, using that in a 2:1 mix with lacquer thinner, that's at least 7 paint jobs including waste.

The finish is so glossy, there is no need for clear, though I want to try to shoot some to experiment with.

Here's a couple of pics of a Dirty Donnie that was cleared with Paint Shop clear, as well as having the Prism Metalflake and Metallic intercoats as well. The top and bottom were painted with Duplicolor Color Match from a spray can, the middle color is Tamiya Maroon lacquer, also from a spray can. The base under it is Duplicolor Filler Primer. The primer was sanded out to 8000 with a polishing kit, and the clear was also sanded out to 12000, the buffed with polishing compound. Very little polishing was required.
