vc273 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Hi just getting back into it with my duster project. At the moment just in mock up but slowly getting there. Used the matt and debbie hayes thunderbird chassis with a few modifications otherwise a really good fit. Tossed the small block ford in the parts bin and installed a 340 small block mopar and torqueflite in its place. Will still use the induction system from the small block ford with a few mods to make it all fit. Shaved the door handles for a cleaner look but will refinish the bodywork in original colour and supplied decals for that original exterior look. Modified the original dash to fit within the roll cage tubing to keep the original look going. Thanks for looking steve Edited September 15, 2015 by vc273
tubbs Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 great start. coming together nicely. will have to remember that chassis when I start my p/s duster project. nice to see pro street cas gracing this forum. I will be watching.
johnbuzzed Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Yeah, that's neat. You don 't see a lot of Dusters in the Pro Street world and it just looks... sneaky. Now I got ideas rolling around in my head; I hate that! I will be following this build.
1 bad55 stan Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Thats cool, pro street rocks, this is already awesome.Good to see pro street is still alive...
fitforbattle Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Looks awesome, the kind of awesome that makes me in awe. I wanna build one! ...but seriously though, who in their right mind would mould a kit in pink!?...
Scalper Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Looks awesome, the kind of awesome that makes me in awe. I wanna build one! ...but seriously though, who in their right mind would mould a kit in pink!?... its very highly saught after pro street t-bir from revell. one from the hot rod issue. Tommy and Nancy hayes t-bird I think its called.
slusher Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Man, that looks great already Steve. Wicked look with that scoop also.
Guest Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 This is a cool project! I've used that chassis under some builds also. It gets them down nice and low. I have another one in the stash to use someday. I built a '71 Duster pro street a few months, maybe a year ago. I used the back half and front frame clip from the pro street Super Bee. Your idea would probably have been easier! I almost gave up on it because of a lot of fitment problems. its very highly saught after pro street t-bir from revell. one from the hot rod issue. Tommy and Nancy hayes t-bird I think its called. It's Matt and Debbie Hay. No s.
vc273 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. Will be posting some other pro street mopars that I have on the go at the moment and hopefully have an update on the duster this weekend. Cheers Steve
DeeCee Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 That looks like a weapon Steve, and look forward to some of your Mopar builds mate. . nice VC in the avatar too mate, got a couple myself.
vc273 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Hi just a small update. Have been working on mocking up the engine tonight and modifying one side of the headers yet to do this side. Its a bit of a tight squeeze once everything is installed but think it will all fit. Been thinking of opening up the boot (trunk) just depends on how far I want to go with it. Cheers and thanks for looking Steve
johnbuzzed Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Steve, that's looking nice, but the headers aren't right for a small block Mopar. The inner ports are closer together, not evenly spaced as on a small block Ford. Small block Chevy headers work OK as it's a similar setup to a Mopar.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I must say I am enjoying seeing the progress on this one... You should paint it two tone and find a pink that matches the molded plastic color...
vc273 Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 Hi John have already modified one side to suit the mopar and if you look closely I have cut the two inner tubes on this side at the header plate but yet to heat and join up. Probably should have taken a photo of the modified shot. James not that I have anything against pink but I have a few colour combos in my head at the moment just undecided possibly black with the white decals and a tan interior tub or maybe a orange with the black decals. Cheers
TFchronos Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Nice and mean looking engine, looks great sitting in the bay.
vc273 Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Hi got this one out on the weekend since it was nice weather and give it a coat of paint. Used duplicolor grey primer then duplicolor ford alpine blue from a rattle can, will polish it in the next couple of weeks bmf it then give it a clear coat. Was going to use the decals from the kit but unfortunately they have little bubbles and are cracking so wont be able to use them. Have also decided to go a little old school and put centrelines on it to give it that earlier prostreet feel. Cheers and thanks for looking
GTJUNIOR Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Looking good Steve. Not a fan of pro-street myself, but that's a cool looking car and the color really grabs your attention.
