Tesla Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) While having my morning coffee, a thought occurred to me: what is the world's largest diesel engine? I think I found the answer...http://wonderfulengineering.com/worlds-largest-and-most-powerful-diesel-engine/ This is truly an engineering marvel. Converting KW to HP this behemoth puts out 107,390 HP!! Can't imagine the torque output! The size of this and its associated parts is unbelievable. Edited June 19, 2014 by Tesla

jeffbrad Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Wartsilla Sulzer is the company that makes these. I think they are in Finland. They have a great website, lots of pics and info. The big one has like a 3 foot bore and 11 foot stroke! redline is 105 rpm. That crank in the picture weighs over 300 tons
Superpeterbilt Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I was building something similar to this using a Revell visible V8 cut in half. Whenever its done, I have a Giant Autocar with 11 axles of lowboy to set it on. I had stumbled on to these pics a while back and was loosely using them for reference. That motor is Crazy!
