Chuck Most Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 As said there are a few taxi parts on ebay, meters, small signs and roof lights. I contacted Jbot in Canada a month ago now, no reply on his taxi external decals. Taxis were just something i wanted to build for myself, for the small dioramas I have heard that Jbot isn't accepting orders at the moment- which is a shame- he sells a pretty nice set of Michigan State Police decals I'd like to get, among others. I haven't heard if or when he'll be back up and running with his decal line.

I guess will have to make some taxi decals for 90's Caprice and Crown Vic. will be worth doing

blubaja Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 The Revell police Expedition has the wrong wheels for the model year. The wheels are for the newer bodystyle Expeditions. The older kit release wheels tho, are the correct ones. But this is usual Revell, not knowing what they're doing:/ The push bar and roof lightbar, are undersized and just garbage. The rear and middle partitions are decent tho.

Yeah that can be a problem for Revell, do a SUV, add some police items i guess from other kits, or close enough for someone who is not a cop fan, add some stickers/decals and put it out as a police vehicle.. What comes in this boxing? i tried google but didnt find any pics or info. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400729046293?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
blubaja Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) I believe that one has the custom 6 spoke wheels, and a lowered 2wd chassis. Odd that they went and tooled that up. This one has the stock wheels. The wheels on the boxart, are not the wheels in the kit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-Ford-Expedition-Metallic-Green-1997-O-C-/151337868582?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item233c709d26 This is what you get. These do not. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Revell-Custom-Ford-Expedition-Snap-Tite-/151335868205?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item233c52172d http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-25-CUSTOM-FORD-EXPEDITION-REVELL-85-1922-/310185597697?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item4838809b01 The revell f150 kits have the correct stock wheels too. They are not setup for the snaptite metal axles, but work as well. PM me if you need them. Edited June 26, 2014 by blubaja

Chuck Most Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 The Revell police Expedition has the wrong wheels for the model year. The wheels are for the newer bodystyle Expeditions. I mentioned that earlier- that's why I'd really love to see somebody do the proper five-bolt steel wheels, even though the F-150 alloys would work just fine. I've got one on the bench at the moment with those wheels and tires- I used some plastic tubing slipped into the wheel backs so they'd fit on the metal axles. And the unused six-bolt steelies from the Revell kit ended up on a Maisto 2010 F-150, an application where they would be appropriate. The decal sheet was the big downer for me with that kit- Revell needs to end its love affair with those peel-and-stick vinyl graphics on their snap kits. I ended up using some spares from a '97 F-150 kit for the dash instruments and Ford oval on the grille. The fact that the graphics were generic was kind of a moot point to me, since there's no way I'd stick the things to the body in the first place.

I'd be glad to see them. TIA . . .
English Jules Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 I have just had delivered the snap tite Custom Ford Expedition, and like the first issue Impala comes with stickers.. Also just got the AMT Ford Interceptor, i only had the b/w HH boxings before. The decal sheet looks fantastic quality, but CHP??? thats a new one on me. Others im not sure at all but the Chicago looks ok i think
Agent G Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 As far as the '70 Ford Interceptor, CHP did not use Fords for patrol use during that time period. They did use a Mercury Monterey which is essentially the same car with different sheet metal. The kit's engine is wrong as well, that SOHC big block was never offered as a cop motor. The Mercury had a 428 ci Police Interceptor motor. G

G cheers. i know the engine was totally wrong in the kit, but i didnt know why but i do now :-) I have watched gone in 60 seconds at least a 100 times, esp from the 40 min chase start as he pulls of the alarm wires from under the hood. Infact the HH boxing i started some years ago i did a unmarked car as seen that they have the movie camera in between them. I know there were Polara and Belvedres used in the movie, 4 door cars but where only the 2 door ones were done in plastic, so need converting. Would anyone go totally crazy if they saw someone used the Galaxie (why not Galaxy?) as a CHP car?

Danno Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 There's a die cast floating around, but, alas . . . no plastic.
English Jules Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 There's a die cast floating around, but, alas . . . no plastic. yeah, same as the later CV. I dont do die cast, plus while cheap in US bloomin expensive over here, weight is a lot to flu over BTW i have found some SF PD pics for the 70s ford BUT only modern pics etc, so not sure if just a made up car. What actually can i do the AMT kit as? google isnt much use

You are correct that it was never offered as a cop car motor- in fact, it was only ever used in the Mustang for '69 and '70.
Aaronw Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Julian, the SFPD has used the same markings forever, except for a short period in the later 1970s under Chief Charles Gain. During that period the cars were light blue and marked as San Francisco Police Services. Their early cars were dark blue, but they switched to black and white well before 1970. I can't say for sure that the SFPD bought Ford's in 1970 but they have been heavy users of Ford automobiles so I think you are pretty safe using the kit you have for an SFPD car, at worst just having a slightly wrong year.
English Jules Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 This is one that always turns on up on searches, the into by someone leaving a comment at the bottom is good. http://bringatrailer.com/2008/01/05/streets-of-san-francisco-1970-ford-police-cruiser/ I do like this one as i know its real, where i find old decals i guess is a problem though

Chuck Most Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Ok, then what kit motor was I thinking of? LOL G I think you were thinking of the 427 Cammer- that was FE based and had a single cam in each head.
