GTJUNIOR Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Got this kit in my stash. Hope mine turns out this nice when I finally build it.
nutboltu Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Beautifully done. Doing the black rubber seal AND the chrome trim on the window surround must have been a pain.
doggie427 Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Congrats on a well-deserved award ! IPMS (UK) is about as big as it gets.
Matt Bacon Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 Thanks for the very kind comments, guys. I was amazed when I got back to the table after judging and found that it was a medal-winner. One very useful thing that it has taught me is that a certain amount of wiring and plumbing etc is allowed in the "Standard Kit" category, rather than having to go in the "Standard Kit Detailed" category. I'd entered the XJ220 and EB110 for that category, but they didn't stand a chance against various 1/20 race cars with all the body panels removed, or the odd MFH kit, impeccably executed. (In the IPMS UK Competition rules, while the AIrcraft Standard Kit rules explicitly say you can add things like rigging wires, aerials or seatbelts, the Car class just says standard kit, built with the contents of the box.)Thanks again!bestest,M.
Reeves Racing Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Wow, super job. I have this kit and I hope mine turns out half as good as yours.
