Tom Geiger Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Hmmm... maybe the after market can do an I Phone upgrade kit for these? Shows you how things have changed. I remember when us kids were very proud just to have a little AM radio of our very own!
Chuck Most Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Just got an AMT/Philco promo today, mine's a '68 T-Bird in pretty decent shape. Not sure if I want to restore it or leave it as is, but I do want to find out if the radio still works.

I never modify an old promo if it can be avoided there pieces of history to me.....but that is me
lordairgtar Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 These are very cool, but did anyone else click on this topic expecting to see a detailed radio in 1/25 scale? I did
Tom Geiger Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) I never modify an old promo if it can be avoided there pieces of history to me.....but that is me That's why I can't collect promos. I understand their significance, but I always see cool things to do to them! That's why I only buy busted ones of cars I wouldn't be able to get easily (or at all!) with kits. An example is that I have several different years of Excel / Johan Rambler wagon promos. All busted up just enough that no promo collector is crying, and anything I do to them is an improvement. I do want to see them as painted and detailed models! Edited July 22, 2014 by Tom Geiger

Tom...I am the same way on this myself...if there too far gone to restore they become model projects and then have another life. Me I love restoring/collecting promos...almost more than building kits if that is possible...? I am always on the hunt for more of them and promo like snap kits.
