This started out as the Monogram '37 Street Rod sedan. I converted it into a phantom pickup after seeing that done in '91, in Car Modeler Magazine. Then I decided to make it into a cab-over. Then a friend suggested to chop it. And just when it was really coming together nicely, I dropped it on the floor, and the roof exploded. So it went back into the box for a long time. I brought it back out several years ago and it's been lurking on my bench, begging to be finished. The plan was to build it as a "hot rod stake truck". As someone here said recently," the heavy lifting is out of the way". Right now, I'm focused on my "lakes modified", but hope to get more time into this project.post-14132-0-73062100-1405092861_thumb.j

Just a small update on my cab-over. The hood is having body work done, and I've added the planned balsa wood planks to the flat bed. The kit box is in the background to show what I started with. The rear fenders are 2 1932 Ford fenders put together to be wide enough to cover the wide (pro street) tires. The truck was originally being built to have anti-lock disc brakes and a newer steering wheel with air bag. The rear end is a narrowed Packard with 4 bar and panhard rod. Thanks for looking.post-14132-0-07964200-1405187446_thumb.j

Well, I'm sure about the Pro Stars! Did a little more checking in the parts box, and I may have a solution to the wheel backs. Funny how the right wheels get you excited about the project again.post-14132-0-08896700-1407632892_thumb.j

Thought I'd drag this old project out and see what needs immediate attention. Got looking at how I planned to mount the wheel backs as I really want those Pro-stars. Also need to raise the rear deck a bit .....so here we go! Back into bench time finally. And also knew about issues with the hood fitment, so while a lot of work is well started, there is miles to go. So here it sits today.

Back to work on the foundation. Just sorting out the suspension and wheel/tire location. The rear end is a narrowed '30 Packard unit with bat-wings added for the future 4 bar. (Sorry...can't post any photos).

nice to see this on the bench again, still looks cool!

where did you get the pro-stars? I need two of them for a project myself.

Tom. I got the pro stars from a friend a long time ago, for this very project. Unfortunately, I never got the rear backs, but I'll figure it out. The big news on a personal note, is that I'm getting back to the bench, and the ideas are flooding back on this build! Feels real good to mentally put things back in place, and try to move away from my health issues. I think there are a few kits still available that have the Pro Stars...you might have to ask around.

Just a layout of the axles for the truck. The rear is a narrowed Packard, with scratchbuilt coil-overs. There will also be a panhard bar. The rear will also have scratchbuilt 4 bar while the front 4 bar is from the Monogram '40 Ford pickup.
