Cedward Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 The LHS is a toy & hobby store,a customer wrote on the store web page what good luck they had finding the toy they were looking for,but noticed a lot of old men,(in there words) cruising the place
LDO Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 That's who builds models these days; people who started as kids and never grew out of it. You don't see teenagers buying many $170 Tamiya model airplanes or $60 armor kits.
Joe Handley Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) The LHS is a toy & hobby store,a customer wrote on the store web page what good luck they had finding the toy they were looking for,but noticed a lot of old men,(in there words) cruising the place That just makes you wonder about what kind of person would write that sort of thing and their own perversions, biases, and/or general mentality. edit: People like that to make me nervous about going and running my trucks in public parks alone. I sometimes worry someone might see my pistol style controller as a "weapon", or think I'm trying to "lure kids" in with whatever truck I'm using there, or destroying the environment with it (even though I'm running some sort of crawler, which does less damage than the average toddler, not to mention I'm constantly picking up and throwing out garbage left by people fishing and/or picnicing.....) Probably a good thing I haven't jumped on the multirotor R/C bandwagon yet, not sure how I would deal with the paranoid freaks those tend to bring out of the woodwork. No, if a teen is spending that kind of money in a hobby shop, it's some sort of R/C product, be it a new vehicle, or parts to repair or modify what they already own.
Harry P. Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Where is it written that an older man in a hobby shop is a pervert? That's ridiculous.

There aren't many kids into modeling anymore. And just because there's a old dude walking around doesn't mean he's a pervert, unless he's taking pictures of the women in the store.. Also what do you mean, cruising the place?
Joe Handley Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 "Also what do you mean, cruising the place?" I think that this reviewer was accusing all of those guys of being gay and/or pedophiles looking for "companionship".
southpier Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 so if Wednesday is cruising night at the drive in, and cruisers drive hot cars, does that mean folks in hot cars are .... oh, brother. I'm going back to model railroading.

Different meaning for the same word, why the reviewer thought that is anybody's guess........not sure I want to know why they thought that........might have been some sort if ignorant phobia...........
LDO Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 There should be an IQ test for online reviews. I read Yelp reviews for a local Chinese restaurant that I really like. There was a one star review because of price. YOU KNEW THE PRICE BEFORE YOU ORDERED!!! I've seen two reviews for my employer from people who were not customers. Stupid.
Randytheroadrunner Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Same kind of mentality that says all bikers are hoodlums on welfare, and all model railroaders are retarded. Idiotic opinionated tree huggers.
wayne swayze Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Have you noticed all the middle age/older guys at toy shows and model contests? Sheesh! Most of us are straight-up guys with a great hobby! Just ignore these opinionated jerks!
Mike Kucaba Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 " bikers are hoodlums on welfare," This is just sooo false, they are wealthy meth dealers.
Ridge Rider Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Rather than being viewed as a wealth of knowledge and mentors, they are what? So sad.
LDO Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Same kind of mentality that says all bikers are hoodlums on welfare, and all model railroaders are retarded. Idiotic opinionated tree huggers. Are ALL tree huggers idiotic and opinionated?
Agent G Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Hugging trees is perverted, just sayin'.............................. G
Mike Kucaba Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Hugging trees is perverted, just sayin'.............................. G Only if they are twerkin' while huggin'

disabled modeler Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I wonder if the person would think the designer of his car was one being the model builder designs one from clay to start with? Modelers have a larger more important affect on the world than many know. There not perverts but highly skilled people most very kind caring people...never judge a book by its cover..it might just become your best friend or help you get your car jump started when you need it. Bikers, modelers, train people bring big bucks into the economy...sure there is bad apples but there is in any field, age or gender. Me myself have had others look at me funny...I just ask them if they need any help...shuts them up and they walk away or they ask what is on their minds. Yeah the guy your talking about has issues of his own.
