935k3 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) This is the Tamiya kit. I removed the 3D front license plate and the back plate so I can use US plates. I also cut the whale tail piece off the rear deck so I could scribe the trunk lines better and paint it black separately. I usually do race cars with a specific color. I bought a bunch of Duplicolor and Motomaster touch up paints at 3/$1.00 at a surplus store in my area and finally decided on this Motomaster paint, FM 77-78. These paints have finer metallic pigment than Duplicolor. Now I have decide on interior colors. Edited July 31, 2014 by 935k3
935k3 Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Why not convert to a Kremer 935 Slope? I just wanted to do the classic 911 I have always wanted. This is one my favorite years
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 ... This is one my favorite years I agree, one of the truly definitive cars of the real 911 series. Most of these I've seen don't seem to sit right, but it looks like you have the stance spot-on. Nice project.
Jaguar man 21 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Looks great the blue suits this shape of 911 very well
Bill Eh? Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Dale, would I be correct in assuming that you shot the paint through an airbrush? Fantastic paint finish.

No actually it's straight from the can. I usually use spray cans for body and chassis but everything else gets airbrushed. I do use the air brush for secondary colors in two tones etc. I will airbrush a coat of Testors Wet Look Clear over the blue.. The can had a fan spray head Edited August 1, 2014 by 935k3
Pizzwizz24 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Love that color blue. Still can remember the large poster on my bedroom wall as a kid. Lol. This was my dream car as a 10 year old. The whale tail is iconic!
