jakehog Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Just toying with the idea of not putting the roof Bubble I guess it could be called on my revell kit. Can't find any pictures of the kit or a 1:1 with this done. Can't decide weather it would look good as an easy chop top or not. What do you guys think.

Bubble roof on a '66 Chevy stepside? Easy chop top or not? What top are talking about in wanting to chop? We need more and clearer information before we can tell you what we think. Scott
GLMFAA1 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 I think you are looking for this effect: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89942&page=1
Guest Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 It won't make the top look chopped because the windows will still be the same height. There's a '65 in the Under Glass section for pickups that has the top left off. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=89942
jakehog Posted August 7, 2014 Author Posted August 7, 2014 Thanks guys that's what I was looking for, that helps with my decision. At least I know what it will look like with the top off, now I just gotta make up my mind.
unclescott58 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Bubble top?????? What are you guys talking about? You've lost me on that one. Scott
chadrob30 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 The roof piece of the truck. It's separate in the kit. He wants to know if it would look "chopped" if he left it off.
Art Anderson Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 The roof piece of the truck. It's separate in the kit. He wants to know if it would look "chopped" if he left it off. I think the answer would be: "not quite". "Chopping" the top of any closed-body vehicle generally refers to cutting the roof pillars, then removing a section of metal from each, then welding the previously cut away top portion back on, effectively giving the entire "greenhouse" portion of the body or in this case, truck cab a completely lower roof, with correspondingly shorter windshield, side windows and rear window. chadrob30 Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Thanks Art. I know this. I was explaining to unclescott58 what the topic starter was talking about.
