I keep trying to get one of these old promo style kits, as you say...I also have limited excitement for 57 Chevys and 49 Mercs.

Love your '59! I have a soft spot for these because I used to own a 1:1 1960 Electra. Here's a primer project of mine, which I was fitting up to work with the Monogram 1959 Chevy kit. Note the windshield surround and roof. I had started with a poorly done early resin body, so I have a lot of time into it just fixing the short shots on the rockers and lower body. I molded in the '59 Chevy rear pan as well, and have the rear bumper and connie kit going there. I later found that the Chevy chassis wasn't appropriate for the Buick and that stalled the project!

Wow! Looks like you have your work cut out for you! But it looks like you're getting somewhere. If you had been in the right place at the right time a few months ago, I gave a very nice original '60 Buick convertible body & top boot to a fellow modeler on a different forum. I built a hardtop using most of the parts from the convertible so I had no use for the spare body. Good luck with the "59!! Steve

Steve, here's my 1960 Buick. I sold both cars a few years ago. That was my driveway back in New Jersey. The cars got sold as part of my big move to Pennsylvania. In retrospect..

It was for a New Jersey car. The big issue was that all the chrome clips rusted behind the chrome, and that transferred to the body as well. I had taken off all the chrome to expose it, and it all was surface rust, with pitting. Quite a mess. Now they make plastic clips for restorations to avoid that.

I sold it to a guy who had just sold a neat Caddy custom he had built. He wanted a '60 for his next build, paid what I was asking, and said it would be redone into a mild custom within a year. That was about five years ago, so maybe I should drop him an email.
