The Creative Explorer Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) I decided it was time to build me a hotrod again, just for the fun of it. After spending time in my 'warehouse', I found a nice simple kit, perfect for a quick, but fun build: The pictures are a bit behind, as I went for it and didn't want to pause for pictures, sorry. The kit is based on a '80s take on hotrods, so bucketseats, weird parcelshelf speakers and more of that. To adress that, I got those horrible speakers off: Instead of the bucket seats, I found a bench, which will look better than those buckets. The engine was painted in the same color as the lower half of the body. And the frame the same color as the topside of the body. Edited August 18, 2014 by The Creative Explorer
The Creative Explorer Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 The body was masked to paint the headliner and pillars. I gave the car some ghosted flames, they are only visible if the light hits it correctly. The parcel shelf was given a new piece and shaped the same.
The Creative Explorer Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 Headliner painted Gastank painted And uncovered. I am now working on all the other parts, but will update soon.
DynoMight Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Wow those flames look great! How'd you do that? Really really cool!
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 That's lookin nice... I've got the same kit and I'm not thrilled with the rear package speaker pods myself...
The Creative Explorer Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Thanks guys! @James; it would be ok if you build a 80's hotrod, but not today's hotrods, it is just weird. As is the included car-phone
lowglow Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I hate the @ The Creative Explorer in the middle of the pics very distracting
The Creative Explorer Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Thanks Roger, No idea why 36 was in my head, weird....But changed!
microwheel Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I always loved this kit. There is so much that can be done with it. Nice work.
TFchronos Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Very nice project, the color looks great on it as do the ghost flames. Very nicely done!
The Creative Explorer Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Thank you guys! I am not getting much done at the moment, so progress is slow. But I do get some much needed cleaning done in the hobby attic. I flocked the floor of the 37 And started working on the engine And the frame.
The Creative Explorer Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 Thanks Carl. Well, progress isn't that fast, but at least I get some stuff done in a few decent hours. I started with detailing the engine And added 2 Cherrybombs I made from the kitparts and some extra material a better looking aircleaner. then I made my 'signature' v-belts, they look so much better than box-stock.
The Creative Explorer Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 I put the ignition wires in the right place And glued the radiator in place, I left it boxstock, since it will be hardly visible after completion, I did add 2 wires though The body is almost done, just a few more things and it can go on the fenders. And 2 shots of the interior.
slusher Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Very impressive work Erik, great looking engine and interior detail. I really like what your doing with this kit..
crazyrichard Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 uuuhhmmm > whouw , so clean and the detail is awsome ~~
