crazyrichard Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 thnx base is painted silver just a few minutes ago
crazyrichard Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) finished the stool .. and finally i got the feel and vision for the garage loads of idea's , like benches with wooden tops , colomn drill on a bench , grind stone machine ... i want to try and add more detail then the other garage and like do more mall stuff like wiring and pugs / cords .. wehll lets say loads to do still:) the other hotrod garage has a scale model of a '32 ford deuce so a modelcar in a modelgarage (lol) , this one will get one as well , a chevy ..... and made a clock for the office used half of a wheel cover of a packard 1/18 modelcar , a while back i turned that into a hotrod ... printed a clock face from sunoco racing fuels and made new dial with shade , cut a clearface plate out of the lid of a cue tip box .. and fitted it in the office , simpel to make but i think it fits the theme perfect Edited September 17, 2014 by crazyrichard
David G. Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Richard, lovely work as always. David G.
crazyrichard Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 i decided to put a wooden edge on the office walls , painted it white .. a ceiling would take away a lot of the detail i want to put in the office .. like a nice desk with phone , cabinet with shelfs and books in it .. and more .. this way you can really see inside ....a ceiling in a diorama is cool but in a way i always feel it becomes more of a box to look in instead of wide open and all details visible .. i could make a ceiling later thats removable
mod3l Lover Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Richard, This is sooo very cool! I like the way the office area looks for sure. Kinda like it should be in the Over-Haulin' TV show or something!! And that varnish you used a month ago, I am familiar with that product. They make mustard for sale here in the states!! LOL!! I'm still watching, and it still looks great! David S.
crazyrichard Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) thnx guys .. and about the office when i have material to make windowframes and glass it will have the perfect look .. next week (sat.) i will go to a big modelstore and buy some modelwood and maybe some styrene ....and hope they maybe have like real thin acrylic glass .. because with the out ans inside window i need a lot and i have not been able to find something to use that comes from packaging or ..... Edited September 21, 2014 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 today i decided to do more work on the floor drain .. used the thin plastic window blinds and made a squaire with a big hole .. i cut out a square in the floor and glued that in so it was sitting fluch with the floor .. added a round lid and in the center some mesh (man that was tiny )
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Cool this are the little touchs that I like about you dioramas
crazyrichard Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) thnx terry i did change the center , cut mesh and glued it in , bend ik so it is concave shaped inside .. looks a tad better Edited September 21, 2014 by crazyrichard
crazyrichard Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 thnx i did give it a new wash . like no rust but just a bit dark grey ... the rust was to much for this dio
crazyrichard Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) suddenly i got an idea ....... went to the workshed and looked trough my stash .. and yes i still had some kabel gutters ?? , like plastic strips for inside your home to put like speaker cable in so you dont see loose cables ... made 2 colums out of those and its made out of 2 pieces that click into eitch other , so from one piece i made 2 small strips that click inside and can be moved up and down (picture 3).. now the idea is to make a support system inside so it will be movable and can carry the weight from a modelcar .. loads of details will be added like switches , brand names , bolts , caps on the top of the poles , nice paint .. just the first rough draft Edited September 23, 2014 by crazyrichard
bpletcher55 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 O-BOY HERE WE GO , this is going to be sweet ,
Ramfins59 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Richard, you said that you needed "glass" for your diorama. Try using the clear acetate tops from boxes of greeting cards. It's clear and much thinner than clear sheet plastic which would be more "in scale". Just a suggestion...
crazyrichard Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 thnx guys and richard thats a really good idea ... but i would have to buy them , and then i'd rather buy something more stirdy , like less flismsy ? but such materials you mentioned is really usefull yes
crazyrichard Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 just did some work , found a old plastic rails from ...? dont know something like ?? uuhhmm dont know what it is glued those in the pillars , looks good .. cut some hard thin plastic strips from the window blinds and folded that around the top of the pillairs ... more to come ..
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Looks good. Curious to see how you handle putting a model on it. Also how you secure it to the base.
crazyrichard Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 i'm thinking of making like a hole in the center of the movable parts and on the hights i want in the rail behind it , then just stick a pin in it ..(easyest way ?)and the modelcar will just sit losse on it , there will be 2 y shaped arms on the pillars
crazyrichard Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 made a plate on the pillar , with a emergengy stop , will make more switches later closed the edge op the top of the pillars and added a nother edge , smaller wich gives it more depth going to make some electrical engines for the pillars , the more beefy lifts have 2 motors , one at eich pillar
crazyrichard Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 added a switch panel and up/down lever
