crazyrichard Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 thnx bob ! btw it holds a heavy van perfectly .. no sweat .. made the picture becuase a guy i know on a 1:1 chopper build forum said (for fun because he is a van fan) i would have run the powerlines underneith , now you cant put a van on it .. so i posted this with a lot of laughing smily's and said if its raised to just under the lines they can stand under it perfectly haha but i just started the work light , kept the shape simple added mesh and a hook to hang it on the chassis when working
crazyrichard Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 plug and outlet on the pole , and done
bpletcher55 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 mam you need to stop ,this to much , no keep going I,m hooked now and need a fix ,
crazyrichard Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 started on the woodwork , all real hardwood .. first i made a flat frame used teh same type of hardwood but then in veneer / superthin , glued that along the edges so there is an edge and you get some depth in the doorframe much better then stained the wood ... i will try to make hinges for the door , maybe out of brass plate and steel pins just loose in its place , such a difference now , when i will make and add window frames on the office .. that will really finish it of and make it look so much better ... for glass i have superthin bendable clear ... a whole plate of the stuff so i can doo all the out and inside windows overall vieuw
crazyjim Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I'm more amazed every time I look here. Wonderful work. Will you be adding electrical conduit, air lines, etc.?
crazyrichard Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 thnx jim ands yes .. pfftt just getting started , will try to add as much detail and stuff in the garage as possible still thinking about a small attic with stairs .... but i have to have like a yes thats it moment and then just build it right away take the windowframes .. wanted to make those first but i could not come up with anything .. now i did the doorframe and just looked at it in place and inidiatly got an idea for the window design
crazyrichard Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 just made a window in the upper part of the doorframe started on the first window frame , i got the idea to keep a small window on top just like on the doorframe so it runs through in the window frame and becomes one piece / look
crazyrichard Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 finished the window frame , stained the wood added glass , some decals the door frame and door are placed loosely i need to make hinges for the door and fit it to the doorframe , the way the door is placed in the pictures is kind of my idea , opened , hinging inwards ... added a flat strip of wood on the bottom in front of the window , wanted to keep it low there because it would take a way a lot of vieuw when the windowframe was tick at the bottom , to hide the line of the glass i made this flat piece added a crane cams decal on the lift now on the other side of the office i want to make a wide counter , and maybe like opeing windows or a roll down shutter , then i will remove the rich rods logo on the wall and place that on the other wall , then where the logo was i will make a door where you can enter the garage .. the rolling door is chain operated and only from inside so you would not be able to get inside haha sure could virtually be on our wall , the side thats open but thats no fun
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Gets better with every update. Willnyou be finishing the bronco next?
chunkypeanutbutter Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) I want to see more Bronco as well. I think you should put a soda machine in the office. Edited October 3, 2014 by chunkypeanutbutter
crazyrichard Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 thnx guys , actually i have bought yellow paint for the bronco to do the moon eyes look .. that is the first build i put on hold .. always finished models when started on them .. tbh in the summer i just didnt feel like it and i have to make a whole custom chassis for that .. so i figured i would put it aside untill i had some inspiration again ... but that will def. be finished this winter i think
crazyrichard Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 these pics are a bit crappy , made them real quick .. but the doorframe (i found out) didnt sit flush against the white at the top , this because i just build without a plan and gradually came to this office without a plan , the bottom was thicker with the silver plating and wood .. so i glued some veneer against the side of the doorframe and flattened it at the fron , some woodstain on it so it was thicker at the top here you see it now wraps around the bottom into the top where the ehite beams are and just sits fluch against everything .. it also looks nice this way (lucky thing) blurry shot but on the right side it also sits perfectly againt the white part then made a strip of wood for the right corner side at the right side of the window in the corner , so its all the same and the ugly seem is gone in the corner when all is done i wil also make skirts from hardwood along the bottom of the garage walls and office
crazyrichard Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 placed a hardwood strip on the corner of the office , in a angle just like the corner on the wide wooden top the door was made by making a flat strip frame , glued the clear glass on the back , but when i will place the door opened and you look inside through the other windows you would see a piece of clear glass glued on the back of the door .. not pretty .. so i used the superthing hardwood veneer and put that on the glass at the back of the door in the same way i did the thick frame .. then used the thin veneer to cover the sides of the door , its now much thicker front and side the backside now in the office carefully loose in the opening just stained the wood , still wet
Modelbuilder Mark Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Very nice. I assume you will eventually weather/age everything up a bit, so I am REALLY looking forward to that. Would be cool to see some video clips of some of your techniques
crazyrichard Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 thnx mark and yes i will do some very very licht weathering but nothing like i used to do , think more in terms of light black smudges from hands on places where they operate stuff very often .. and maybe on the lift some very mild tyre marks on the base plate ..i want to keep this one much cleaner .. in fact when i look at my hotrod garage dio now i think i overdid the weathering there lol..but every dio you learn i guess ?
crazyrichard Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 finished the door made a long hinge (fake) from real brass and put it in a opened positition , i figured that was the nicest way so i put it in fixed ... also thinkign about when i have to transport the dio ... placed in / on the office a door plate and doorhandle from real brass put the logo on the left wall , where it was before i will make a door to the outside and the long office wall will be a counter
crazyrichard Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 went on with the other wall of the office first made standing posts from hardwood , i wanted to see if those needed to stay open because that will be the counter or i could do the small top windows i already had a wide edge so maybe with one more hardwood strip its wide enough as a counter so i took a figure and saw i could do the top windows , nice because now the design runs through and becomes one then stained that wood also
crazyjim Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Gee Richard. Maybe if you're ever in the USA you could stop over and remodel my kitchen. Looks great.
crazyrichard Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) i made a first test version of an ashtray , used a old headlight , some silver , paper buts with some black pigment powder just a quick thing i want to make a nicer version finished the window frames , top end is done added a counter strip woth rounded edges , maybe sliding glass windows there ??
