Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room

I felt your golden hair and tasted your perfume

your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be

your gentle hand reached out to comfort me...

then came the dawn

and you were gone

you were gone, gone, gone...

Yep, that's the one. It's my favorite tune to do in karaoke (Yeah, I sing karaoke!)

Next up:

"It was somewhere in a fairy tale,

I used to take her home in my car,

We learned about love in the back of a Dodge,

The lesson hadn't gone too far... "

Anybody want to take a crack at this one from last night?

"Hello honey, it's me,

What did you think when you heard me back on the radio,

What did the kids say when they knew it was their long-lost daddy-o... "

W.O.L.D. Harry Chapin

I put another quote from this song out there last evening... didn't see where anyone got it

Sometimes I get this crazy dream

That I just take off in my car

When you can travel on ten thousand miles

And still stay where you are

Uh... OK... Yeah... If I had bothered to look back one single lousy page I would have seen this one. I commented earlier that in my opinion Jim Croce was the best-ever storyteller-in-song, but Harry Chapin was right up there with him.

A bit of trivia on this, that's Iggy Pop saying this part at the beginning of "Black Sunshine"....

Yeah I got the music cranking, Japanese TV

My head is full of jasmine smoke

I can hardly breathe

Turquoise dragons slip and slide

Sliding down my back

I'm standing on this cold, thin ice

And I'm about to crack

Anybody? The bands named after him, Tracii

Heres some glam band era

I got home late on a Saturday night

And I knew right away something wasn't right

I knew she was gone

She took all I had, but left a hole in my heart

Should've known it'd go bad, right from the start

What did I do wrong

And this 1? Starts "Bye baby bye bye"

I remember to this day,

the bright red Georgia clay

How it stuck to the tires

after the summer rain

Oh, I'm burning in love - a strange infatuation
White cold cold touch - what must I do, do, do
The heat and the dust increase my desolation
In God we trust - always for you, and you and you

I got a funny feeling

When she walked into the room

That night

As I recalled

It ended much too soon

"Words you say never seem to live up to

the ones inside your head,

Lives we make never seem to ever get us

anywhere but dead"

The day I tried to live, I wallowed in the dirty mud with all the other pigs, yeah

Singing one more time around, might do it

One more time around, might make it

The day I tried to live, just like you

The ladies of the manor watched me climb into my car

And I was going round the track about a hundred and five

They had the stopwatch rolling

I had my headlights blazing I was really alive

Yet my mind was blowing

I drank a bottle of tequila really felt real good

Had to take it rolling

But on the twenty fifth lap at the canal turn I went off exploring

Knew I wouldn't make it

The car just couldn't take it

I was turning

Tires burning

The ground was in my sky

I was laughing......

The Four Seasons... I think it's called "Oh, What a Night" but not really sure of the title.

"Late December back in '63, what a very special time for me, as I remember, what a night" or something like that. I can hear the song in my head, just don't know the specific title.
