Gotta do what you can just to keep your love alive

Trying not to confuse it with what you do to survive

In sixty-nine I was twenty-one and I called the road my own

"Runnin' on Empty" by Jackson Browne......

"Nice girls, not one with a defect,

cellophane shrink-wrap so correct,

Red dogs under illegal legs,

She looks so good that he gets down and begs".....

Duran Duran- Watching the detectives

Apparently I'm stumping everyone. None of the last 10-15 I've posted have been guessed.

oh really, well DJ Tubbsy Tubbs in in the house now... we will revisit.

Give me all your love

Your hands build me up when I'm sinking

Touch me and my troubles all fade

ok first one was fairly easy...

Duran Duran- Watching the detectives

I am not sure of this version, not o fan of Duran Duran, but I know Elvis Costello did a song named "watching the detectives" and this is a cover of that song. just a little information for all you music heads. I had no idea double D covered this song.

Another verse from my first submission (which no one got)

Couldn't believe it when he bit into her face

Couldn't believe it when he bit into her face

It tasted just like

A fallen arch

^^ I'm with Al on this one! Never knew Duran Duran did that song, only one I've ever heard was Elvis Costello's version.....

Learn sumthin new every day!

"She surfs the smooth red sea,

She keeps me safe and warm,

It's just the calm before the storm......."

WOW!! I haven't a clue, got me on this one

It's pretty obscure, I'd be surprised if someone got it

It's off Blue Oyster Cult's first album

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

I know the song but cant think of the title. That album is one of my favorites. Then came the last days of may is a great song.

Indeed it is- I saw them play it just a couple of weeks ago. Eric Bloom introduced the song by saying that it was about some friends of his, I didn't know that.

Wolf Creek Pass (I forget who did it, maybe CW McCall)

Correct on both counts.

Baby, don't understand

Why we can't just hold on

To each other's hand.

Well I think it's time to get ready

To realize just what I have found

I have been only half

Of what I am

It's all clear to me now.

Sometimes I'm tired, sometimes I'm shot
Sometimes I don't know how much more I've got
Maybe I'm headed over the hill
Maybe I've set myself up for the kill
Tell me how much do you think you can take
Until the heart in you is starting to break?
Sometimes it feels like it will

Harry yours can be tuff and you have a wide range of music. keep putting them up I have figured out several. My brother was 10 years older then me left all his 45s when he moved out got me into music. Keep them coming...

This one's for you, Carl... not obscure at all, done by one of the biggest bands in all of pop music.

"Now you are here today,

But easily you might just slip away.

'Cause we live in a time,

When paintings have no color, words don't rhyme."

I've the image of Jesus embedded in my chest ;

Correct on both counts.

I knew it was either CW McCall, Dave Dudley, or Red Sovine- the holy trinity of trucker songs.
