Jantrix
Was there ever a release of this kit that came with more stock looking wheels/tires? Of all the California Wheels editions, this thing has the worst wheels, and I was going to do this one box stock for contest. If I can find an older release with better wheel/tire options I would be deliriously happy. Any help would be appreciated.
Krazy Rick
I'm pretty sure that the Lindberg 66 has stock wheels
JollySipper
Would stock wheels from a '65 wagon work? http://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/amt-r2-701.htm Seems there are 3 or 4 build options with this one!
Teds57
the revell 66 elcamino has the stock wheels and hubcaps
Jantrix
Let me re-iterate. I'm building this box stock for contest. Which means I have to build it with parts from one kit. So if I can find an older release of the same kit, with different wheels/tires and have the proper instructions it's legal to compete with. Guest
Not legal Rob. The wagon kit only came with those horrible "Daisy" mags.
Jantrix
Not legal Rob. The wagon kit only came with those horrible "Daisy" mags. indeed. Okay. Thanks Roger, you're always here to help, much appreciated. Maybe if I paint the spokes in steel or black they will look better.
Guest
You're welcome Rob! Check out this '56 with the painted Daisy wheels.... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=93221 Makes a big improvement IMO.
Jantrix
Ya know, I just can't do it. I can't use parts I don't like. I'll build something else box stock for competition. I'll find something better. Thanks for the help everyone. Edited September 13, 2014 by Jantrix
Snake45
I can solve your problem in three simple steps. 1. First, paint the spokes of the California wheels gray or black. They will look 1000% better. 2. Put them on the model and take it to the contest. 3. After the contest, take the goofy wheels off and put on whatever kind YOU like for the rest of time. Everybody happy! (I can relate here because I'm not a fan of those big stupid modern wheels either.)

It's easy to swap out just the wheels after they're built. If I ever do get around to building one of those wagons, I'll go with the Torque Thrust II's or the Hopsters.
