crazyjim Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I have to go up to the Gainesville VA tomorrow morning for a nuclear stress test. What worries me the most is that the local doc gave me nitro pills. When I asked what for, he said "just in case". Makes me think I have heart problems that I don't know about.
Ramfins59 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Shouldn't really be much to worry about Jim. I've had those tests several times and the drugs just "fool" your heart by making it feel like you've been doing strenuous exercise. The attending staff is there ready to give you the "antidote" to the drugs and immediately take care of any serious issues.
High octane Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 And here I thought that being "married" was a stress test, no?
crazyjim Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Being married has very little stress for me. It's having the darn nitro pills that worry me.
oldnslow Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 After 40 years there is no stress, only anticipation.
slusher Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Being married has very little stress for me. It's having the darn nitro pills that worry me. Jim, I get worked up easy with worry and that can be the worst thing for your body there is. Relax if you can and just think of the pills as a life preserver on a boat. Its rare you ever need it but good to have it. I know how you feel...
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Thanks guys. I'm trying to relax but not very well.
disabled modeler Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Try not to worry about it Jim... I have had Nitro pills for years just in case. I also have had the test and a heart cath test done where they run the scope up your artery to your heart. Stress is its own ailment....mindset helps or hurts much more than people know.
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Had the test today. They didn't keep me to do any surgery so I think that's a good sign. I have to call my primary VA doctor tomorrow for the results.
Ramfins59 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Congrats Jim. Glad everything turned out well so far.
slusher Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Had the test today. They didn't keep me to do any surgery so I think that's a good sign. I have to call my primary VA doctor tomorrow for the results. Good to know Jim, keep us posted.
Custom Hearse Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I failed my stress test. First they had me walk on a treadmill at an uphill angle. I was supposed to do that for 2 minutes, but I only lasted 25 seconds, so they gave me the same nuclear stress test. I thought I was gonna pass out. I was gasping for breath clutching my chest. I hope your test results are good.
crazyjim Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 FINALLY got the stress test results - negative. All that after too many phone messages left at the VA primary doctor.
Ramfins59 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 That's great to hear Jim. Congratulations.
crazyjim Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Thanks guys. My stress was raised because I couldn't get the results. All better now.
Greg Myers Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The V.A. ? no wonder. Glad it worked out. I've had a few , some bad, mostly good. Just do what the Doc's tell you.
