slusher Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Lots of progress Mike. Paint color and finish look great...
mrmike Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Thanks Russell and Carl! This is the FULL decal sheet for the HUG. Hmmm...decisions, decisions. This was in the Lindberg Little Red Wagon kit. I think I'll use it with the HUG. Oh yeah!!! I'll paint it up and display it under the HUG. More to come...
Funkster Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 As an owner of a 1966, the body lines tell me its a 1966. !964 and 1965 had had there own body lines, 1966 had a different line and also had a full front and rear bumpers. !964 and 1965 had a thin front and rear bumpers with roll pans front and rear
FASTBACK340 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Wow, that's coming along nicely! Looking forward to seeing it finished up!
mrmike Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Thanks guys! I originally thought that this was a '65 Barracuda, but further research showed me that I was wrong. It is a '66. Another disaster! I had applied decals and carefully clearcoated the body with Testors Ultragloss Clearcoat after an hour or so, I glued in the rear glass and used a pair of clothespins to hold the glass while the clear parts cement dried. I removed the clothespins later in the day and it removed the clear and the black enamel down to the gold enamel underneath. I sanded the spots smooth and masked the body to repaint the black enamel on the roof. Here's the body with the masking removed. Looks pretty good to me. Disaster averted. I painted the wheelie stand with Tamiya TS-6 Matt Black. Almost finished. More to come...
slusher Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Looks like you fixed it, hate that that happened,
FASTBACK340 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Nice! I have a half-started `69 HUG in the stash somewhere…. Hmmmm. Maybe I'll add that to the pile.
mrmike Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 Thanks Gordon, Carl, and John! I have finished my HUG and I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my WIP.
Dragline Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Great start to finish on such an iconic car.
W-409 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Great job Mike! That Wheelstander turned out great, smooth paint job with clean assembly makes it look like a winner. Good work turning a not-so-good kit into a neat model.
FASTBACK340 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Great job on the HUG! I have a half-started `69 HUG and yesterday I acquired a `68 HUG builder. You've inspired me to build more Barracudas……. Real nice build. Thanks for posting!!!
rustybill1960 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Beautiful Barracuda! Thank You for sharing Russ
