So, I am still recovering from my procedure two weeks ago. I really cannot safely paint for another week or so. I was getting bored because to continue working on the Hornet I have a ton of paint work to do.

Stopped by the local Mom and Pop department store and they had the Mustang LX drag car kit. Got it home and ripped it open. I really prefer the look of the 4 headlight Mustangs. Off to the stash I went. I had an MPC '79 hatch on the shelf. About an hour later I had this:

You can tweak the front fenders on the Revell to get the MPC nose to fit but the Revell nose is too wide to put on the MPC body. I have since narrowed the hood a bit and it fits perfect. I will need to add some small shims to the MPC nose near the hood to close up the gap. I will be using that MPC scoop. I will need to modify the tail light area to accept the '79 lights. I will not be modding the quarter windows. These cars have so many interchangeable parts that it's not uncommon in the 1:1 world to see parts from various years on the same car.

I first tried to mini tub the chassis but just couldn't get the tires I wanted to use to fit. After cutting and trimming I threw in the towel and back halved the thing.

I'm still trying to decide on a power plant. I don't think this one will be blown........I want that smooth hood look.......

I also started on the interior/cage. I'll be building on the Revell parts

Thanks for looking.

I like this year model better, too. Great job on the conversion, the front end fits so well that it looks like factory made. Thanks for the information on the fitment, when I get one of these '90 LX Mustangs, this is what I will do. Then I could build something like this Top Street Mustang: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKdJ9MYl7OE

I'll be following this one with a great interest.

Another great project in the making. I agree, the smooth hood look would be real cool. Maybe a quad turbo'd engine? I've seen it done. That thing would fly....

Here's one I found on google. I'm pretty sure you could get that thing under the hood with some persuasion! haha

WOW!!! That's some serious tubing on that thing.......I don't even know where I'd start........I think I'm going to go with a 4.6 GT500 motor with the blower....

Niko I really like the flat black on that one you showed. It looks so mean!

Yep, it's one of my favorites too. B) It has a Small Block Ford with a Pro Charger and the best ET so far is 8.5. The driver said at 2014 Finals that he can't go with full throttle, otherwise the car will start going sideways. He has also done a couple of massive wheelstands with that one... Small update. I'm going to be using the engine from the Revell 2010 Mustang GT500. I actually googled how to do the swap on the 1:1 car and found out I need to move the tranny cross member back. So last night I carefully cut it out. Then I filled the gaps with some evergreen strips. Next up will be cleaning up the gaps in the floor and fabbing the motor mounts......

Check out my nasty lx notch build. I have got the engine in so you can see exactally how to do it. Won't fit under stock hood though

You will have to tweak the oil pan. Feel free to get in touch with me if you have questions

Fred, Thanks for the info. I will definitely be hitting you up once I get a little farther.
