Jim B
I just saw on another board that Revell (possible Revell of Germany) is planning on reissuing the 1/16 Peterbilt 359. Looks like the cost is about $170. Didn't Revell USA recently reissue this kit substantially cheaper?
Casey
Yes, it was part of Revell's SSP (Selected Subjects Program) which used to mean the kit was limited to a certain number (say 5,000), but not sure if that still applies to the SSP branded kits or not. It was around $70 or so when it was reissued in 2013, though, so $170 is quite a jump in less than two years.
Jim B
Oh, good. So I'm not going crazy.
ZIL 111V
More than twice the price asked here, for the exact same kit !!!! (minus the ugly Revell AG decals). Oddly, when i read the side boxing of my 359's Revell US :"SSP" (latest yellow edition) was made in... Poland! since Revell Germany has a "cheap labor" plant there...Meaning Monogram Pete 359 1/16 mold (like other 1/16 truck molds & others!) still in hands of Revell Germany. Jim B
It's interesting to note that in the photos that I've seen of this reissue, the air cleaner is on the drivers side while the luberfiner is on the passengers side. Is it the same with the yellow SSP reissue from 2013? This is opposite from the Revell USA 1/25 Peterbilt 359.
ZIL 111V
Same kit, (but white & different decals for Revell AG) Introduced back in 1980 with "reversed side" air filter & bigger sleeper the Mono 1/25 & 1/32 359 Snappers. Odd that this big kit did not have... twin air cleaners!
The Creative Explorer
Don't forget that the 150$ is based on the EU retail price, which is always higher than the US market. Add to that the exchange rate and presto; you have a huge difference. I can't say I am that suprised.
