426-Hemi Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Lol @ your last sentence. It's 707 at the crank and low to mid 600s at the tire depending where you read. Just setting it straight. No offence intended. I believe he chose the new hemi to go with the pro touring theme. Makes a good combo. My friend is doing a 1:1 69 dart with a kenne bell blown 6.1 and a 6 speed On the Mopar forums its said to have this at the wheel, not the crank.....Also stated is that the '15 Hellcat Charger is 2 tenths of a second faster then the Challenger! Withthe same engine! BUT, its a completely different car next year! Edited October 17, 2014 by 426-Hemi

1972coronet Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I thought that all current horsepower ratings are at the drive wheels and have been for many years... Starting with the 1972 model year , engines' power ratings were changed from gross to SAE net . The primary difference between the two rating systems was that net ratings were achieved by having the engine "dressed" ; water pump , pulleys , and alternator were operational on the subjective engine . It sure seemed like a raw deal ; compression dropping and new power ratings , all at once ! For instance : 1971 340 was rated at 275 hp ; but , by 1972 , the same engine (with a staggering drop in comp from 10.25:1 to 8.5 :1) was now an emasculated 240 hp . Power ratings from the factory have not --to the best of my knowledge-- ever been given in RWHP numbers.
freakshow12 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Correct. All crank hp numbers. Nobody rates them at the tire.
johnbuzzed Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Ahhh... my mistake. "You live, you learn".
bill_67 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Nice looking paint and wheel combination, looking forward to seeing more.
JollySipper Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Thank you Mr. Kreger! This engine I'm using, any of you guys know which size is it? Is it the 6.1? It's from the Testors Charger Daytona 1/24........ Just want to make certain before I add any call-out decals..
KingSix Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Correct. All crank hp numbers. Nobody rates them at the tire. Even more so, they were never really honest about the ratings either ..
JollySipper Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Small update for you guys! Just wanted to show you how the intake turned out with the holes filled. Also, I solved the problem of needing an electric fan......
slusher Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Looks good Tim, did you have to move any mounts or braces to get the Viper engine in there??
Jeremy Jon Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Looking great, looking forward to more! So your engine is blue, with the brown body colour? What interior colour is it to be?
JollySipper Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Thanks for the comments, guys! Glad you're interested in my project..... Slusher, I had to trim the bottom of the block to raise the oil pan so it would clear the K-member. Jeremy, the intake is the only blue on the engine, just wanted a splash of color for the engine bay. Interior will be brown and tan two-tone....... Again, thanks for looking in, fellas!
rustybill1960 Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Your build is shaping up quiet nicely I really like what you are doing I have one in the stash using parts from a 2005 Chrysler 300 Those rims are nice Peagasus? Thank You for sharing Later Russ
JollySipper Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 Quick update for today! Just wanted to give you guys a peek at how the interior is going to look, and how the engine came together. Also got the hood decal on.... rustybill, I got the wheels in a trade with a pretty cool member here, they are from Fujimi.........
