rollinoldskoo Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 i'll be building it someday soon... i got a lot of projects going already tho ... its a Modelhaus resin body that i've had for about a year already..... some work i did on the motor for a 60 impala kit... aluminum air cleaners from the my homie DoUgH.... cut up one of them permanent coffee filters for the filter element... less than $6 brand new but this one was used so its got the weathered look got a little messy doin the wires on the distributor tho... i need to pick up more of the thick superglue like Zapagap or somethin... i hate this cheap runny dollar stuff i got now
rollinoldskoo Posted January 31, 2008 Author Posted January 31, 2008 here's another project i have on the backburner waitin for me to get back on it...
Raul_Perez Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Rollin, Even though it's not my style, I sure can appreciate all of the work that you put into that paint job!! The reflections in the paint and the crispness of the lines show how well it's finished!! Keep up the great work!! Regards,
dub Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Gil, this Impala is absolutely beautiful! I love the contrast between the red and the gold. A very tasteful combination indeed. Also a flawless execution that really does the lowrider look proud.
Kenny Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 The air cleaners on that 409 are OUTSTANDING. Gonna hafta get me a coffee filter!
Raul_Perez Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Rollin, I forgot to mention in my prior post...thanks for the great tip on the air filters!! BTW, my LHS still hasn't got the Pegasus wheels I ordered that you helped me with for my 58 Impala. Hopefully I'll get them this week so I can get that beast finished... Thanks for sharing!!
MojaveRacer208 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Orale Man! you may not be from East LA, but you sure seem to understand these low riders. Are the white (?) patterns on gold in the center Hawaiian characters? Awesome hand work in all those lines and shapes. I am into racers, not low rider cars, but in San Fernando where I grew up, they were all around me and I have helped some friends work on theirs, so I can appreciate the effort that goes into them. Also a couple of my friends, Armando Flores and Josue Gonzales were at the forefront of bringing low riders to the mainstream of model cars with models which won Model of the Year Championships and features in SA Contest Annuals in the 90s.

Armando Flores as in this guy??? http://www.layitlow.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=250603 go check it out.... Anthony Rios and David Irwin are also building on that forum...

rollinoldskoo Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 after i cut the roof off the monte.... test fit showed it to be pretty close fit.... so i started chopping it up.... needs a bit more work on the rear....
rollinoldskoo Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 busy day for me today.... i finished the motor and body on this car months ago.... had a hard time with the interior.... first color i sprayed i didn't like..... then the second one i sprayed got messed up.... same can that messed up on the roof of my 77 monte before.... i think the paint in that can is no good or something.... well now i finally got the interior sprayed where i'm happy with it.... time to do the flocking on the floor and other details.... should be wrapping it up soon.... put some fat whites on this one....
rollinoldskoo Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 just realized i never showed my 77 monte carlo here yet.... still needs clear and some interior detailing tho....
Modellpularn Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Heyyy man you build some awesome lowriders!! I really like the yellow and red 65 Impala. That paint is wild, man!! But I'm curious, why the silver/chrome front - rear corners? Was that a way to show off you could afford to put more chrome on the car, or what? Those five spoke wheels..... hmmm doesn't look very good. Try to find a set of Cragar S/S from AMT's 65 Galaxie, now those are beautiful! Very crisp molding, with S/S detail in the center caps. Very cool old school wheels! There's a kit you could build a lowrider of, it's got an opening trunk, right from way back in 1965.
