Just for giggles I priced out the insurance- 8000 pounds= $12,574.60 US! Good God, that's what, double the maximum value of the car, at least here?!

Wow. Insurance is a scam everywhere.

On the bright side- you have a very lovely travel companion.

I remember coming home from high school and my Mother handing me the envelope. I remember the elation when I felt the thickness, as opposed to the single sheet of paper saying " no way....." in the failure notice. First thing I did was ask Dad for the car and go pick up my then girlfriend.

Pure magic that memory..... And I had the same issue with insurance. Many a V-8 Vega or Pinto roamed about registered, and insured, as 4 cylinders

That is a cool thing to get licensed after passing the test in the first try. I guess driver tests are harder than here in the states. Be nice to the young lady and she'll be with you for a long time. Be nice to the GTI and the Ka, and they will be with you for a long time too. When out for a drive in the country, don't pull the old "Dear, the car has run out of petrol" thing...LOL
