If you are buying the '33 Willys to get this tire and wheel set, it ain't gonna happen, that's one reason that Round2 came out with this set is because people wanted the same appearance, but not with 4 lug wheels, and if you're buying previous releases for $8 to get'em you're going to be REALLY upset, because the only releases with the small front tires and proper slicks are the original one, and the newest version. Neither one will you find for close to $8.00

But don't complain about the price, oh yeah if you got the original M&H sets for your magical $8, consider yourself very lucky they hit the shelves at an original price of $16.99, and were marked back to $14.99, but the best I've ever seen the set is $12.99.

I was complaining about the current kit prices to my wife one evening after a trip to the LHS, and she reminded me that when I paid two bucks for a kit, I was making two fifty an hour, and gas was forty cents a gallon, so I have quit complaining.

I don't remember ever hearing so much griping about Pegasus wheel/tire sets going for $8-9, or American SATCO tire sets fetching $6-7 when they were available...

Better product :P

if this is just your tire collection, I can't imagine how many rooms the other stuff fills!

That is not all the tire collection, but about a third. Kit count is only about 450, if you exclude the HO train stuff still in the moving boxes.

Ya know, it sure is funny that Moebius released a wheel and tire set that has TEN wheels and tires in it and it costs just about the same as what the AMT Gasser wheels parts pack costs!

The Moebius Lonestar and Prostar kits run about 65.00 so only 17.00 for the wheels and tires is much more reasonable!

If Moebius can do it, why can't AMT?

FWIW, if you check the Round2 Website, their 8-tire parts packs are advertized at $13.99

Bottom line...if you feel the product is overpriced, or otherwise not to your liking...nobody is forcing you to buy it. I haven't seen any of the parts packs (nor any Round 2 car kits, for that matter) in closeout stores, so they must have a handle on the market for these things. I've purchased a number of them, and have never paid anywhere near retail for any of them. It pays to shop around...

And you have what experience in the industry? - or any business operation for that matter? Love offerings?! Really! As it's been pointed out by myself and the other posters that you are skewering, we do have the experience and contacts to shed some credible light on this. If it's not in line with your OPINIONS, I can't help that.

As to the cost of the Moebius parts vs AMT's? There could be a number of factors. How the production line is managed, they could be sourced from a outside vendor, any number of things can contribute to the cost variances between companies. Every one does business differently, unless of course you believe there is an evil cabal between the model companies to steal all your money and your first born too.

Last time I checked, you didn't need to submit a resume here, by the way; I do have plenty business knowledge & have operated a hobby store ( albeit small & a while ago ) ........ As a consumer, I feel that the pricing on kits & these packs, have gone way out. .... and yes, I am well aware that we all have a choice to purchase. If the cost of having these products made in China will continue to get worse, then what was the idea of sending all the manufacturing there in the first place ? Thanks to Tom, we all have a grip on how the economics of this works; ( thanks Tom  )..... despite this ..... the price still sucks  . I'm sure I'm not the only one who would prefer more reasonable pricing, and I'm not buying into this fear & threat of the hobby being at stake if we all don't just shut up, play nice & buy without questioning - that is pure garbage B)

I dunno. have checked other cottage suppliers over the past few days and most guys are getting about $7.00 for a pair of tires. so 4 for 15$ isn't as outrageous as first blush. and most suppliers are listing these below 12.

they make great stocking stuffers, and that is a price we can all deal.

Hmm....if you want to put it that way  ....... I'll have to agree. ;) ( Now that I've worn out my fingers on the previous post ):D
