Mike Chernecki Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I stumbled across these while looking for something else. I didn't know Hobby Design did detail sets for american cars. Anyone try these, how well do they fit? Do they make others? http://www.car-model-kit.com/113-detail-sets-upgrade-sets-transkits/23670-69-chevy-nova-ss-for-r-hobby-design/ http://www.car-model-kit.com/113-detail-sets-upgrade-sets-transkits/23668-70-plymouth-hemi-cuda-2n1-for-r-hobby-design/
Quick GMC Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I think they just barely released them. i haven't tried them, but I have used a good amount of HD stuff and for the most part it's flawless. Some of the things they make don't work that well or are very difficult to get right. I would imagine it would take some skill to get those chrome window and fender trim to look just right without having the edges sticking out. They do make quality stuff though, i wouldn't hesitate to buy them if you were interested.
Mike Chernecki Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 I already placed an order. I have thier full detail kits for the Ferrari GTO and some Lamboghini's. I was just surprised they are doing American Muscle Cars, hope for more kits in the future.
Mike 1017 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I have tried using some PE sets from Model Car Garage. The quality is no problem but there are no instructions or a parts list identifying what the part is. Does Hobby Design put instructions or a parts list their sets? Mike

Mike That's odd, all the Model Car Garage sets I have bought have a sheet identifying each part, unless it is a very simple set. Yes, Hobby Design does provide an instruction sheet on how to assemble multi-piece items and placement instructions. Edited December 24, 2014 by Mike Chernecki

Yes, Hobby Design does provide an instruction sheet on how to assemble multi-piece items and placement instructions. Same here. I've used alot of the MCG PE manufacturer sets over the years and have a bunch in my aftermarket suppies to be used yet, and everyone comes with a complete list of what the parts are and what they are for. The only ones that don't are their PE parts like carb linkages and such. But most of those are self explanatory. If you by their carb linkage sets or chasis detail sets or the like, you pretty much already know what your getting. But their full kit detail sets come with a complete list of the parts and what they are for.
Mike 1017 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 The one that I bought was for the Lindberg 64 Dodge. Now that I looked at the car. The PE kit did come with instruction's for the grille but that was it. No parts list. Yes some of the parts are obvious but there were quite a bit that I could not figure out. Maybe they forgot to put the parts list in the bag. Mike
RatRod Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 They look like pretty decent sets, but I just don't see how the P.E. window, and wheel well trim could look any better than BMF. I think they would look very tacky myself
freakshow12 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Is that a PE tire mask for the Goodyear polyglas I see on that one part?

jaftygas Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Those instructions are awsome, if there right that is.
Intmd8r Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I've used parts from Hobby Design in the past for other kits. Some of the best quality PE you can buy. They are a Japanese company and usually focus on Japanese cars. Nice to see them branching out to NA vehicles. Their products can be pricey, but usually worth the extra cost. Love to see a review of this set.

They also have a lot of aftermarket resin including wheel sets.
Intmd8r Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Oops-I made an assumption of their origin based on the package. My bad. Also, HLJ offers most, if not all of their products.
