Faust Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) Just in time for the new year, I have completed a new kit, the Hobby Boss 1/350 Astute Class submarine! I was drawn to the fact that the Astute doesn’t look like all the other black tubes out there; it actually has some neat contours and a lot of character, especially with that weird “hunchback” design. I must say that, photoetch aside, I had a good time building this kit, and despite a few flaws, it was a lot of fun and a pretty simple build, especially compared to some of the old dog planes I build much of the time. Since I’m pretty new to building ships and subs, I’d appreciate any feedback you can give me! Thanks, and Happy New Year, all! https://adamrehorn.wordpress.com/model-kits/ships-and-tanks/hobby-boss-1350-hms-astute/ Edited January 1, 2015 by Faust
Faust Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Thanks, James! I still think it looks like it's bent in the middle!

Roadrunner Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Looks good to me. I have a 1:700 Type XXI to slap together one of these days. Ought to take about fifteen minutes from start to finish.
Faust Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 Oh man, a 1/700 Type XXI really would be an afternoon build! I wish they'd make one of those in 1/350. Heck, they make one in 1/144, but not 350? So odd. I do have a 1/144 Type XXIII that should take about as long as your Type XXI. Have fun!
