vancouver71 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Hi guys, i just tested my 1st hairspray weathering technique on a pickup hood.what do you think? I think this is the best thing I ever made simce I start modeling!! Thank you
SfanGoch Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Good job! It's a fairly simple technique. Spray the base color onto the part(s) and allow to dry. Then, spray a light coat of hairspray over the painted part. Let the hairspray dry. Then, spray on the color (acrylic) you want to weather. Using a toothbrush and warm water, scrub the part until you start seeing the top layer of paint come of and expose the base paint. The warm water softens the hairspray, allowing the top layer of paint to come off.
vancouver71 Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Thank you guys SfanGoch is right,it s exactly what I did. I follow the tutorial from Dr Cranky and this video
doghouse dewey Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Thanks Mickael. Looks great. I'm going to try it.
Foxer Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 This came out pretty good, though the straight lines in the weathering do bother me. I have a tough time figuring how a 1:1 would weather with such straight lines. Probably little more scrubbing to randomize those edges would improve it greatly. Again, the weathering does look good and believable in most areas of the hood.

Kornnut Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Looks great. I want to do this on my nomad I think.
