Where To Buy Online

Recommended Posts

I was buying from an oline company, lucy model in Tokyo. But they recently screwed up an order of mine realy, realy bad (you dont want me to get into it). Im looking for a new palce to buy online, ive found that buying outside the US gets me a much better price than my local hobbly shop, even with shipping. Does anyone have suggestions, I build mainly car models, so military isnt of to much interest to me.

There are so many places,(hobby shops--aftermarket shops and resin shops) its hard to know where to

start. It also depends, what you are looking to buy. Also if you look around here in the states you will find some of these

places have good prices and you probley get your purchases a lot quicker.

A few places I have had real good luck with are

My first choice is Mega-Hobby out of New York state, Order goes in and within a week I usually have

my stuff. If its not in stock or going to take a little bit longer, Pete will let you know. Plus the prices are a-ok in my opinion.

An aftermarket shop that has good prieces and a hell of a selection and good service is Models by Chris.

If you need something for a diorama or for goodying (hope thats a word) up a car or motor chances are he has it.

Also if you subscribe to Model Car Magazine (got you a plug Gregg) there are a lot of ads for web-site

modeling places in there. Big world out there in cyber-space millions of choices. You just have to do your thing your way.

I've become a fan of Model Express. Always seems to have new kits as quickly as anyone and carries some of the Japanese and Revell Germany kits. He also carries a good selection of MCG, Pro Tech and Pegasus. The only thing he doesn't carry is paints. While Dennis runs a one man operation I've found him to be quick with his shipping and he's never messed up any order that I've sent.

I get almost all of my supplies and a lot of my kits from Tower Hobbies. They have a good selection from the mainstream kit makers (Revell, AMT, Tamiya etc), not so good for more obscure stuff. Good prices and fixed rate shipping so on large orders shipping really works out in my favor.

I also get quite a few kits from Model Roundup, they stock more heavy trucks and less common kits like those from Model King than Tower does.

There is a model shop that does mailorder in Shizuoka City. It's called Rainbow Ten (ten means 'sky' in Japanese). I always received first class service from them. They have a stock list on their website, so you really know what they have, a bit like Len Feinberg's online catalog and unlike HLJ, where 99.8% of what I order usually goes on backorder for months on end.

You find Rainbow Ten's website here:

http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/

Just click on ,todays stock list' in the left pane.
