Jonj238 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Here is my first try at big rig building. It is a Revell Pete 359. I learned a lot from this build, (especially when it comes to paint), and I look forward to the next. Please forgive the picture quality. I wanted to take them outside, but we have been having a spell of bad weather here in the north. I still have a pogo stick to add to the back, but I am still trying to decide on the best way to mount it.
angelo7 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Beautiful combination of colors. You did a professional job for a first big rig. I would push the rear tires out over the wheels a little more. One of my favorite kits, I have two of these.
Petetrucker07 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Very nice. These little snap kits have so many possibilities. I'm working on a KW now and gonna do pete here shortly. The paint looks great.
kilrathy10 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Yeah, Buddy....You're looking good.....Everything looks great......This model has a few perks, as a model, but it also has a few problems with the wheels and tires.....I'm sure the instructions don't make it very clear, but as Angelo pointed out, you need to drape the tires over the rim.....They may not fit well, but that's how the go.....Just check the photo on the box, and you'll see what we're on about.....Very nice mode, overall......You've done a great job for your first build.....Keep in mind that we all here want you to build the best model you can build by offering tips and information for the asking......And maybe some unsolicited ideas, as well......Welcome to the hobby, Man.....Welcome....We're all here to help......
Jonj238 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Thank you for the nice comments. I see what you mean about the tires, and I will fix it. My biggest complaint about this model kit is the lack of detail. I also didn't like how the cab lights and air horn mounting studs are visible inside the cab. But I guess I could have fixed that....
Petetrucker07 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Good thing you reminded me of the mounting studs. I almost forgot to remove those on the KW I'm building. Especially since in adding 4 more.
Mackvision Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 That's a very nice build especially for a first! my first was nowhere near that nicely built! I agree on the color choice too, looks great. Welcome to the hobby,we are all here to help!............................................Mark
gatorincebu Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Welcome to the hobby. You did a fine job on that Pete. Be Well Gator
