I already know that there are no resin GMC grilles available ( that I am aware of anyways ) for any of the 1950-65 Chevy pickups that are available but I was wondering about making my own. There are die cast GMC panel truck banks and I was wondering if anyone has considered trying to or has tried to take an impression from such a grille from which to cast a copy and seeing if it can be made to fit the AMT 50 Chevy truck? I am quite confidant that it would need some major tweaking or maybe it is just too much work. Suggestions?

Danbury Mint did 1941 and 1953 GMC pickups. Ebay prices can be nuts on these but once in a while you can find one for a decent price.

There may be flaws in my thinking, but I've always thought you could get a good starting point for a 1960 GMC by flipping the Chevrolet grill upside down, then filling and drilling the eyebrow grills in the hood. Never have found plastic GMC letters which would be necessary, although now with 3d printing that probably wouldn't be as much of an issue. There is also the issue of the engine which was different from the Chevrolet.

I had pondered a similar question to replicate my first fire company's GMC carryall.

Old_Palmyra_Fire_Police_truck-1.jpg I though about this diecast to use with the resin body that I bought a few years ago(R&R?).

Didn't know if it would fit/work...

Many years ago, Shawn Carpenter did a very nice kit to convert the AMT '57 Chevy to a '57 GMC . . . grille, hood, emblems, hubcaps, tailgate ... until GMC landed on his neck with the full weight of its trademark licensing and infringement lawyers. No more conversion kit.

I bought a bunch of styrene stock to "try" and make my own '50 front end. I have the '50 Chevy kit to base it off of. I'll get to it eventually.

I swear YEARS ago about a year or two after that 50 Chevy came out, I was reading something in TOM(The Other Mag), there was a resin GMC grill for it. These are probably long out of production, but I can't for the life of me remember who it was. I think it was one of the more prominent casters that didn't end up surviving. I think they went under shortly before or after Cheez Cast came about. I'm 90% positive it was Modelhaus.
