Matt Bacon Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Looking good -- I have one of these waiting to be turned into Jack Aubrey's HMS Surprise... I think your biggest problem is going to be keeping her stable if there's enough breeze to sail her at all... all the model yachts I've ever owned have had thin, deep keels, usually with a chunk of lead at the bottom... Worth having a look here: http://www.artmarine.co.uk/geoffhunt.aspx if you want some inspiration, and ideas about what rig a 19th century frigate would really be carrying as she sailed, rather than Lindberg's "let it all hang out" approach... bestest, M.

philo426 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Finished up the rigging but the float test did not go well! The ship either listed to port or starboard and the addition of lead shot only caused it to sink.Oh well I guess it will have to remain in dry dock display.
Roadrunner Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Rigging looks impressive. Too bad about the water experiences.
philo426 Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Yes I was warned that it might be problematic!
