Hey everyone, have a quick question.

I was putting the tail light lenses on my current project and managed to get glued on the outside of the lens. Does anyone have any advice on how to clean up the residue!?

Thank you!

if superglue/ acc, there is debonder available.

there's always the possibility of fine wetsanding and then plastic polishing back to slick (Novus #1, #2, & #3) if the adhesive didn't gnaw too deep.

One thing you might try would be to coat the lense with tamiya clear red if is is just frosted. Sanding and polishing might remove any engraving on the lense. Liquid glue or crazy glue shouldn't be used for the lenses. White glue is the best.

I usually use white glue but I tried experimenting and well as you all can see it didn't work to good!

The kit has a second set of tail lights, so I might just take the red lens out of both the chrome holders and use those instead with the white glue.

Thanks for your help!

coat it with future and that smear will disappear.

then use future to glue the light on/in to the body.

Maybe I'll give this a try, where can I get future? I've looked at Walmart before and could not find it. Do you have a recent picture of the bottle?

Thanks!

do a search around here, there was a photo of the current packaging here somewhere recently. I believe it might be called "pledge with future shine" or something like that

if your goof up has any build height you might want to lightly sand it before putting on the Future. Future will bring the gloss right back when it is applied

I used Tamiya ultra thin.

The problem with Tamiya glue is that it isn't glue. It is plastic solvent and dissolves the plastic to join two pieces together, so it won't "come off" because it is not on the surface. The only true fix, is to sand the plastic smooth and polish it out. The Future may work because you are filling in the unevenness in the surface caused by the solvent.

Well went to a few stores today an none of them had the future. Might just order some off amazon at this point.

Thank you all for your input!

Just got the floor care in from online, sanded the tail light with 1500 grit til it was smooth, washed it, then brushed on some floor care and so far the results look great! Going to wait for it to dry to see the final outcome. Thank you again for helping me save my tail light!
