Rudy2013 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 What kind of glues are you guys using when you do a mock up before you do the final gluing ?
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Really depends on which part of the mockup I'm doing, and whether it's going to have to be handled during fitting of more components. Rubber cement, Elmers White glue (or other PVA glues), Elmer's Glue Pen, and regular liquid cement (just a TINY drop) all get used during fitting and mockup on my bench.
jbwelda Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I generally use elmers white glue or just a tiny bit of thickish super glue. that will break apart easily if lateral tension is applied to it, and its easy to clean up. white glue is much easier of course but it doesn't stand up to much handling. jb
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I like Aleenes tacky white glue. You can get it at Walmart or Micheals. It takes a while to setup but does a goog job for mock ups.
935k3 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I drill and pin allot so the parts stay together without glue. I also have made tabs and other mechanical ways of holding parts together without glue. I especially like a mechanical way to attach the body to the chassis without ever using glue. You can use Micro Scale Liquitape to hold stuff temporarily
High octane Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I've been using regular light tan colored 3M masking tape for my mock ups lately, and it seems to work for me.
Tom Geiger Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) I drill and pin allot so the parts stay together without glue. Some illustrations... The pins are glued into the pieces they are in. They fit tight into the mating part. Some parts never even get glued. Edited March 3, 2015 by Tom Geiger
