slusher Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 What kit or kits contain engine parts like a crank shaft and pistons? i saw a listing on ebay but they want 14 bucks for them. i want to use them in a diorama...
Kris Morgan Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I think the AMT 58 Chevy has a crank in it. Not about pistons though.
Ramfins59 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I think the AMT '58 Chevy came with a chrome crankshaft. Some of the Blueprinter engine parts packs came with camshaft parts. I don't recall ever seeing pistons, other than a piston shifter in one of the Revell '32 Ford Coupe kits.
randx0 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) One of the old revell parts packs had pistons I think the show display one. Edited March 22, 2015 by randx0
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 The old Revell tri-five kits had engine blocks with the crank shafts molded in & some pretty good valve detail on the inside of the heads. The pistons are molded into the block also. Even the underside of the intake was well detailed. I know there was at least one kit that had a separate crank shaft, but I don't remember which one. I know it was a chromed piece. Steve
slusher Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Thank you so much guys. i have the heads and block..
Longbox55 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 The AMT '55 Nomad used to have a piston and rod trophy in it, It think it's been removed from more recent issues. If I'm remembering it correctly, I think the MPC Garlitz Swamp Rat, and its assorted reissues (American Grafitti) have cranks in them as well. With the Parts Packs, the Chevrolet and Pontiac kit has cranks and cams for sure, and I'm pretty sure there's a crank and cam for Hemi in the Hemi/Corvair kit. Tose engines also include flywheels. In addition to the internal details on the Revell Tri-5s, the Hemi in the Miss Deal kit has similar details, and also includes separate rocker shafts for the heads. The Hemi Hydro boat has the same engine, but minus the rocker shafts. The Roth Outlaw, Beatnick Bandit, and Tweety Pie also have similar detailing. The AMT '66 Nova has a very nice bare 350 4 bolt main small block with engine stand. Both version of it have the engine. It does need some minor work to be perfect (cylinder bores). The above mentioned AMT crankshafts fit it very nicely. if you wanted to do a block with crank installed.
gtx6970 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 The 58 Impala kit I just picked up has a chrome crankshaft in it.

Jim in Falls Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 The AMT 49 Merc kit I'm working on has a chrome crank and some pistons in it. It doesn't seem to be a 8 cylinder crank though!
Longbox55 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I'm going to have to correct myself. The piston trophy I spoke of did not come in the Nomad, it was in the '49 Mercury. I haven't rechecked the recent issue of it, but I'm thinking that the crank and pistons that Jim mentions must have been put back in for the last reissue, as they are not in the last few reissues before it.
